I asked this on the main board

Honestly, I was looking into the sleeve, and there are so many places, Boston and all, that I could go to. But I love my surgeon, and he does RNY or the band. So I'm getting the RNY. I'm scared, who wouldn't be, but when I met with my PCP I talked in length with her, and asked about her patients that had RNY, where they sickly, she said no absolutely not. I talked with my WLS co ordinator and they have had nothing but success, to date, I am the only band they lost, and that was my bodies fault.

Wow Deb! That's exciting. What made you decide to go with RNY? Just curious really.

I have to add Nancy, I am a fool for sweets, so I know I am going to be a maniac for a while, as if for me the transition to band wasn't hard enough, it's going to be a huge transition, and not one I am embracing, but I don't want to leave home anymore, I am so dissappointed in myself, and really pissed that food has this power over me. I know not everyone has severe dumping, but with my luck... My band life was not the norm, and it would be impossible for me to have you understand how severe it was for me, I know there is going to be a difference, but I could hardly eat most days, that's how I lost so much weight, I just gave up eating. Now I have Mike eating non band meals and he is miserable. I have to cut the crap! This is how I'm doing it.

Deb, I think we're all in the same boat. We have issues with food or we wouldn't be fat. I'm for whatever it takes to solve it. I don't think RNY is a bad surgery, and I would have had it if I had been approved. I wasn't and ended up taking the Band route. I'm very happy with it, but I probably would have been happy with the other too. Sounds like you have a good doc, and you'll get good aftercare. You'll listen to your body I'm sure. I wish you nothing but the best! One rule though....you CAN'T LEAVE US!!!!

Deb, I'm so happy for you! You've been through so much! You're the only one who knows what feels right for you, and I wish you all the best, in your decision! Having a doctor, you feel so good about sure helps! I hope you will still be hanging out, here, as we have always loved having you around! No matter where we are!
