Bank Called About Fraudulant Charge of Credit Card!

I got a call on my answering machine today as well as an email asking me to call my Union Credit Card about possible fraud. They stopped charges for airline tickets and an over $10,000 charge for some kind of media group! I am just horrified. I hardly ever use that card except for charging our prescriptions from our mail-away pharmacy, also from our union. Once in a while I have charge things on HSN or QVC. Anyway the bank has cancelled that card number and they are sending us new cards with a new number. I am just so happy that the bank stopped those charges.

Hey Marcia.....Shouldn't you be sleeping? I say that only 'cause I'm exhausted and can't seem to sleep tonight. I hope you've turned in for the night!! Anyway, I remember a few years ago my parents were making a purchase at CostCo or BJs and their card was denied. My Mom only, literally only used her card for HSN or QVC. My mom is very cute and sooooo not computer savvy - she was totally convinced that the charges were made by the guy that was demo'ing something on the TV and she blamed him. Oddly enough, charges were coming in from VA and England. The fraud dept. caught it and it was taken care of immediately. Just thought it was odd that both yours and hers were exclusively HSN or QVC. I've had all kinds of attempted fraud incidents due to work related travel but my parents (my dad passed) are/were homebodies and were not used to that kind of stuff. It's definitely stressful. What's wrong with people these days. I'm thinking.....GET A JOB AND PAY YOUR OWN BILLS>>>>>> don't steal other peoples credit card info!! Anyway, thank God your CC Fraud Dept caught it.....and you're not liable! Thank God it's the weekend!!

Wow Marcia, I am sorry to hear that. My bank called my husband while I was in Ireland to let him know there was suspicious activity on my credit card in another country. And I, uh, wasn't going to share with him how much I actually spent! But I am so glad that they did contact us!

What scares me is when hubby or I use the credit card to secure reservations over the phone to restrauants. Is there anyway around that??? Diane

That is just WAY too, scary! They seem to get us comin and goin! When my Mom first went into an assisted living place, before we could clean out her purse, one of the maids, took her check book, and was writing checks, but she actually, went to the bank, and wrote one for cash! How stupid, as she needed to show and ID!~ They nabbed her! ha Sounds, like your credit card co., was on top of it! That's a good thing!
