a bit of advice

to all of those who are not at goal yet and still working towards it. This is what I have learned. I was banded in Nov /06 and by last May had lost 60 of the 100 I needed to lose. Needed new clothes so felt free to buy lots of mostly size 14's. Why did I buy lots? Because I never really believed I would be less than a 14. And I knew that on average bandsters lose about 62% of their excess weight - which for me would be 62 pounds. I am going to Barbados in 2 weeks and now have to go and buy all new clothes all over again. I have lost my 100 and wear an 8 or a 10. Moral of story - have faith in yourself that you will get to your goal and shop accordingly!!!

What a great post and Congratuations on your excellent success. I often get asked how I did it with the band. And I tell them, I just learned how to eat with the band. It doesn't take a perfect patient, just a "good enough" patient. I agree totally with your advice - have faith, it is possible. Oh, and be careful on the clothes shopping. I bought at least three total wardrobes thinking I was done losing weight....

You are both so right. I, too, am working on my third new wardrobe. I thought that I would be done at a 10, but the blessings didn't stop there. So, yes, be aware of what and how much you are buying. What an amazing gift this band is to me, and all of you! Give thanks each day!

lol Thanks for the advice.... I love each and every minute of buying new clothes - as long as they're smaller sizes! Congratulations, and have an awesome trip! You will look awesome and have a wonderful time....I just know it!!! You don't have to buy designer clothes as you lose weight but I do think it's important to buy clothes that make you feel good about yourself so I think it's money well spent. I think I've spent as much on fast food and junk as I've invested in clothes along the way!!

You are absolutely right Ann! I encourage the folks in my support group to get a couple things that fit. It helps you to see how much you are losing and is great for encouraging folks to continue to keep losing. New clothes are good - just be careful to not buy the whole wardrobe until you are absolutely sure you are at your final weight. I cannot tell you how many thousands of dollars worth of clothes I gave away........

I,m totally with you on this. I had these secret hopes but I never genuinely believed that I would ever be a size 10. So I also bought several wardrobes on the way down. Lots of fun but an expensive business. Kate

Yes, the band is an amazing thing. and if my biggest worry these days is spending money on new clothes I consider myself a lucky woman. and Marcia - I promise it wasn't me trying to use your credit card for my Barbados flight!
