a bit of advice
to all of those who are not at goal yet and still working towards it. This is what I have learned. I was banded in Nov /06 and by last May had lost 60 of the 100 I needed to lose. Needed new clothes so felt free to buy lots of mostly size 14's. Why did I buy lots? Because I never really believed I would be less than a 14. And I knew that on average bandsters lose about 62% of their excess weight - which for me would be 62 pounds.
I am going to Barbados in 2 weeks and now have to go and buy all new clothes all over again. I have lost my 100 and wear an 8 or a 10. Moral of story - have faith in yourself that you will get to your goal and shop accordingly!!!
What a great post and Congratuations on your excellent success.
I often get asked how I did it with the band. And I tell them, I just learned how to eat with the band. It doesn't take a perfect patient, just a "good enough" patient.
I agree totally with your advice - have faith, it is possible.
Oh, and be careful on the clothes shopping. I bought at least three total wardrobes thinking I was done losing weight....
lol Thanks for the advice.... I love each and every minute of buying new clothes - as long as they're smaller sizes! Congratulations, and have an awesome trip! You will look awesome and have a wonderful time....I just know it!!!
You don't have to buy designer clothes as you lose weight but I do think it's important to buy clothes that make you feel good about yourself so I think it's money well spent. I think I've spent as much on fast food and junk as I've invested in clothes along the way!!
You are absolutely right Ann! I encourage the folks in my support group to get a couple things that fit. It helps you to see how much you are losing and is great for encouraging folks to continue to keep losing.
New clothes are good - just be careful to not buy the whole wardrobe until you are absolutely sure you are at your final weight.
I cannot tell you how many thousands of dollars worth of clothes I gave away........
