OT: What in the world is happening?

Yesterday my daughter rang me up very upset. An old school friend of hers and my sons' who used to be our neighbour has killed himself by hanging. He was 24 and left a note saying he couldn't go on anymore..... I am starting to feel somewhat battered by this year already. Sharyn

That's 3 suicide's here, in the last week! I'm SO sorry to hear about this, Sharyn! I just came from a funeral of that nature, today. I wish I knew why all of these young people feel this is a way out, of WHAT?! SO, sad!

I list a cousin and a very very close friend in 1990. There was no actual proof of suicide....both were considered 'accidental deaths' and that was fine by me, but I'll never understand it. I've had a couple of suicide attempts closer in my family and I really just dont get it. Personally, I can't imagine what drives anyone to feel so low that they want to end it...I know what it's like to be overweight, but that's nothing in comparison to what others feel. I actually consider myself lucky compared to so many others....and so much more so now that Im ba nded! I'm so very sorry for your loss as well as Sharon's. - Ann
