OT: My Dad had a heart attack last Thursday
The Iron Warrior of our family fell victim to a tiny blockage leading into his heart. Fortunately, he received quick medical care and is now recovering at home. I am very thankful for the miracles given to us via modern medicine, transportation (he was transported by helicopter though he was fighting with the Dr. to go by ambulance 'cause it was cheaper ) and good old fashion human care. Dad is 77 and as my mom said, "Hey you gotta know we're old and have lived good lives." I understand what she means by that. Nevertheless, Dad's mission on Earth is clearly not meant to be done yet. I think it has helped him realize he needs to change what he eats, like stop putting butter on everything (he buttered his radishes-seriously). It's a good reminder for my and my brothers and sisters too. There are 8 of us total and four of us have had WLS. I was reminded to not squander the opportunity the band has given me to make a healthier life for myself and my wife & kids. I'm working to be more accountable this year with exercise and what I eat. I believe 2008 will be a healthy year for my household.
