Yesterday was my first day home after flying to Seattle. I always tighten up when flying. I slept well Tuesday night, but tried to take two naps yesterday and woke up coughing. Then last night I suffered with night coughs all night long - so no sleep.
Today I had a liquid breakfast. Egg drop soup and a few pieces of chicken for lunch with no problem. And I will do liquids tonight. I do take Prevacid.
I am looking for any and all tips, no matter how bizarre, to prevent night cough until my band loosens back up. I do not want another unfill, so I need to figure out how to get past this.
Help!

Gee Chelle, I doubt I could tell you anything you don't already know, but I'll try.
Known causes of reflux among Bandsters include: chocolate, mint, coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, acidic foods. Nothing 3 hours before bed.
Try putting the head of your bed up on blocks to elevate your head. It's not enough to add another pillow, that actually can make it worse.
Feel better soon! It's the pits not to be able to sleep well!
The only thing that bothers me is that my doctor told my doctor always asks me if I have reflux or night coughs. He says that night coughs could be a sign of reflux and that could lead to a slipped band. He also says not to have anything to eat or drink for 2 hours before I go to bed.
I hope you feel better tomorrow!
What kind of cough is it? Can you tell it's reflux? I ask because I've been having some intermittent coughing at night for the last few weeks, but it seems to be because of the dryness of the air due to using the heater at night. If I suck on a losenge or cover up part of my face and breathe "moister" air, it gets better right away. It's like an annoying back of the throat dry/tickle feeling. You could also be more sensitive to the dryness since you just got back from a humid place.
