I need some sanity......
Hey Ron,
Sorry I wasn't clear in my rant last night. It wasn't patients from my doctor - it was patients on the lapband message board. The three that really got me, where from three different doctors.
My doctor generally does a really good job of educating his patients. But even with that, there are always tons of questions. I think sometimes folks are afraid to ask the doctor questions.
Take care, Ron.
WOW! That is scary that so many doc's are undereducated and/or unexperienced and not properly instructiing their patients. I don't think we can blame the patients for not asking the right questions. The doc's should be responsible here. My surgeon wouldn't even consider doing my procedure until I understood everything fully. Thanks for spreading the word!

I haven't been on the forum as much lately due to travel, but man I so want to respond to some of those. There is the gal who hasn't showered for days because she didn't think she was allowed to get wet. And all those people who don't have a clue how to eat. Is the band becoming a fad? Will uneducated people getting banded be the cause of a bad rap for the band? Sheesh who goes through elective major surgery without researching it well first?
'Nuf said.
I read that one too! I could not believe she didn't know that you start showering immediately. As in, before I left the hospital.
You bring up a very good point. I think the folks who are less educated about the band are less likely to have good success. Less success equals less weight loss. Less weight loss equals the, "the band will help you lose approximately 55% of your excess weight...." statistics.
I always tell folks at my doctors seminar that you will get out of the surgery what you put into it.
Yes, it is cold up here right now! This is colder than normal for us, but we are definitely colder than Texas all the time!
I was supposed to be in Dallas the week of the 28th, but they pushed the trip back to February and moved it to Denver. Can you believe it? Denver in February instead of Dallas in January.
I'm a bit bummed about that. Oh well, it's a short trip - Sunday to Friday to teach a class. After that trip, I'll probably think Seattle is warm!
