...and $400 later, I think I'm ready for Weigh****chers. We dragged the trash can around to the patio and EMPTIED the fridge of all the foods we are no longer going to eat. Which worked out really well, cuz it really needed to be cleaned. There were a couple of green things in tupperwear that I could not identify!
I am really jazzed about this! My cousin (my age) and her hubby, who have never really dieted before and are BIG eaters, started WW 4 months ago. They have lost 90 pounds between them. Looking awesome. They swear it has not been hard, because there is nothing you can't eat, as long as you factor in the points. You just can't have it all in 1 day.
I figure that coupled with the Band, and I ought to be in good shape. I am going to the meetings, and then putting hubby and I on it. To be honest, I have winged this whole weight loss thing since banding, and it worked pretty good for a while.....but it ain't working now! I have to get some structure into my eating.
We are loaded with Talapia, Cod, Salmon, Chicken breasts, and tons of veggies. Black beans and wild rice for fiber, whole grain bread for hubby, light string cheese, fruit, yogurt.
I hope I can do this....
Good for you....I've been thinking about WW, too....but I'm not big on the meeting thing. When they first started with the Points system, I did pretty good on my own so with the band, I think you'll do great. I keep telling myself that I never want to 'diet' again so I haven't given in yet, but I totally agree w/ you. I need structure if I'm going to get to goal and WW can be a healthy lifestyle as opposed to a 'diet'. I know for me, this is a lifetime thing so I may be right there with you!
Good Luck!

Cant you do WW online now? How cool is that! It sounds like you will have some healthier eating habits and a way to balance portion control. Being banded just adds the twist that no matter how many points you can have...you stop when you are full. I think its the most balanced diet on the planet. You can still eat out and have a life.

Yes, they have a monthly pass for $39. So if you want to go to 4 meetings or no meetings, it doesn't matter. For that price it gives you all the on-line tools and the restaurant point stuff. I figure a fill would cost me $150 plus gas, so I'll try a few months of WW and see how it goes.
This will be good for Bob (hubby). He doesn't really have a concept of portion control, especially when it comes to things like salad dressing, mayo, cheese. I think it will be a real eye opener for him.
I did tell him he has to read up on it. I can't have him asking me every day how many points he's had and "what can I eat"?

I joined and paid online yesterday, so there would be no backing out! The site is VERY cool, lets you know how many points you have and you just enter in your food. I don't know if it was this way when you went, but you now get 35 bonus points for the week. You can use them all in one day, or have an extra 5 a day.
Nancy, I think you're for sure serious about this! Good for you!~Sounds terrific, and I will be interested to hear how it goes! I was on WW, years ago, and did good, but of course gained it all back! Wasn't Bridgette, on it last year, and I think it worked well for her. Good job on the fridge! My fridge is good, just cleaned it out, but the freezer is scary! I date everything, and I need to go through it! It's a BIG upright! I'm excited for you guys!
Nancy,
I will join ww again one of these days. I will be a lifetime member! My plan is to join when I only have about 15 pounds to lose (I'm cheap lol). I'm sure I could use WW before then, but as of right now thats my plan. I joined for the first time when I was in second grade. Yes you read that right second grade. We had to get a note from my ped. saying it was ok. I already weighed over 100 pounds. I got down to 85 pounds and then halloween happened and Mom quit too lol.
