Lisa,
It's good to see your beautiful picture on the board again. At Barix yesterday we were talking about how quiet the board has been these past few months. It feels like it's dying. I have tried posting more but there are times that I just say what's the use. I'm going to work on my attitude more. Hope that all is well with Siehara and that you have a good holiday. Would love to see you down at Barix again but I know that you work a second job and I am sure you are busy with the holiday season. Take good care of yourself.

Hi Ruby and welcome.. I had my surgery in Feb 2009. I am not from the Philly area, but do go to the Barix meetings on occasion. I lurk around this board and need to go back to posting on a more regular basis.
Good luck with your pre-op preparations!! Look forward to following your success.
Welcome Ruby! My name is Donna and I had RNY surgery 3 years ago at Barix in Langhorne, PA. It was the best decision that I ever made. Do they have a support group down at Penn? There is a good one at Barix. Pre-op is the 2nd Tuesday of the month and also on the 1st Saturday of the month. Anyone is welcome even if you are not having your surgery there. Feel free to post any question here or to voice any of your concerns. I found this site to be very helpful in the months leading up to my surgery. Hope to see you around the PA board. Good luck.

Hi my name is Ruby and i'm new to this site. I am aspiring to have the Lap Band surgery though Penn's bariatric program in Philadelphia. I look forward to all the support that I may receive here!
Looking forward to seeing you Donna. . .

By all means bring a recipe or two. . .I've been asking about doing it, but keep forgetting to mention it here. . .
So for anyone out there, if you've got a good WLS friend recipe you want to share and you are coming to Barix on Saturday, please bring 25 copies! If you're not coming and want to post some on here, please do that, we can never have enough good recipes!
Thanks Beth for the reminder. . .

I tried posting a reply yesterday but the board wouldn't let me. I have every intention of being there. Thanx Laureen for being so faithful at posting the reminders about support group.
Donna
Hey Laureen!
should we bring recipes that we were talking about sharing??
Beth
Thank you.
I met with Dr. Meilahn yesterday. I am now waiting from my testing appointments to get set up. I also stayed for the support group. Now I have to decide which surgery I want. I keep teetering between VGS and RNY. This is harder than I thought.
As we go into the holiday season, I'm sure there are many challenges to face, the kind that in the past we may have dealt with by eating, so let's focus on how we can get through the holiday season with a sense of accomplishment. As always this meeting are topics as they relate to post-ops, so please come by and share your WOW moments, as well as whatever else is on your mind.
The Place: 280 Middletown Boulevard, Langhorne, PA 19047
The time: 11 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m.
If you are celebrating a surgiversary, please bring any props (clothes worn prior to WLS, pictures), you will get 5 minutes to share what it was like, what it is like now and what you look forward to.
We have a nutritionist at every meeting and while all are welcome to attend our support groups, nutritional consults cannot be given to non-Barix patients, but no matter where you had surgery if you feel in need of support we welcome you!
On a last note, while we recognize that there are times when babysitting might be an issue, it would be appreciated if small children were not brought to the meeting, as there are times people have a need to discuss things where having a small child there inhibits their ability to discuss openly talk about what they need to. Thank you for your understanding.
Wishing you all the very best holiday season!
Laureen
