The meetings at Barix in Langhorne are well run and outstanding.

I am also aware of a monthly meeting at Thomas Jefferson Hospital - unsure of dates but you can easily check with them.

Rob, my journey from first consult to surgery was 18 months. Yes, 18 months, and that didn't involve jumping thru hoops of medicare and medicaid. I am convinced to this day that the insurance company thought I would just give up and go away.

I didn't . And I'm glad. Hang in there and keep after it - it IS hard work and one support leader told me that the pre op stage is, for some, the hardest. For me it got me ready for the patience needed for true and lasting successing.

Best to you! Lynn

Maura you are an absolute inspiration! A little crazy too (hope you are wearing a full body wetsuit before jumping into the Schuylkill!) - proving to us all that we CAN do the things that were unimaginable!

Best of luck in your training!

So sorry that you won't be there Arlene.  I miss seeing you.  Hopefully you'll be able to get to the 1st Saturday meeting in April.  Hope that all is well with you.  Take care.

I cannot make this again because of special zoo training and mentor obligations.  And to think, it will be my 6 year surgiversary.

Maura,

I am SO PROUD of you.  You AMAZE me!  Wish I could donate but the finances are still very precarious these days.  I will be supporting you in spirit.  Please keep us informed of your progress.  Make sure that you get your tetanus shotsdevil before you hit the Schuykill!  You rock girl.  Take care.

Hey Friends, we're entering that wonderful period of Spring, where nature renews itself and the days are getting longer and more time can be spent outside then in. . .  Hoping to see you all at Barix on Saturday!!!

As always this meeting are topics as they relate to post-ops, so please come by and share your WOW moments, as well as whatever else is on your mind.

The Place:  280 Middletown Boulevard, Langhorne, PA 19047
The time:  11 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m.

If you are celebrating a surgiversary, please bring any props (clothes worn prior to WLS, pictures), you will get 5 minutes to share what it was like, what it is like now and what you look forward to.

We have a nutritionist at every meeting and while all are welcome to attend our support groups, nutritional consults cannot be given to non-Barix patients, but no matter where you had surgery if you feel in need of support we welcome you!

On a last note, while we recognize that there are times when babysitting might be an issue, it would be appreciated if small children were not brought to the meeting, as there are times people have a need to discuss things where having a small child there inhibits their ability to discuss openly talk about what they need to.  Thank you for your understanding.

Donna,

So looking forward to seeing you and others on Saturday!  Glad you are keeping yourself moving and that you are managing to stay ahead of the "wolf". . .

My weekend was simply awesome, went to Atlantic City with Tony to see the WHO and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  I must say the show was amazing and as I watched Daltry and Townsend, I thought, wow look at them, Daltry in particular, was in awesome shape and they are men near to 70, gave me some hope that I might be able to be just as fit as they appear to be. . .  told Tony, guess 70 is going to be the new 30 (lol). . .  I'd say about 80% of the sold out show was our ages, it was great fun!

Yesterday I did some backyard cleaning, as my reclamation project will be getting underway shortly; two friends are going to get my yard in good order, ridding it of any dreaded poison ivy, other weeds, getting rid of trees of unknown/unwanted origin and I will have some nice grass and then I will fill in with ornamental trees and bushes to make my yard the vision of what I want and an oasis where I can entertain friends in the nicer weather.  This project will set me back a few dollars, but it's what I do with tax refund money, put a portion back into the home. . . excited and looking forward to getting it done.

Oh well, work beckons. . .

See you on Saturday!

Laureen

So, I'm at it again!  I'm fundraising for cancer.  This time it's for Blood cancers as part of the Team in Training sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I'll be participating in a triathlon in Philly in late June.  I should probably have my head examined, but I am so excited about it.  I'll swim almost a mile (in the schuykilll yuk), bike for 25 and then run for a little better than 6 miles.

If you told me 4 years ago that I would be doing this, I would have laughed out loud.  If you want to donate, you can do so by following the link below:
