Good morning PA peeps!
I don't know about you but I wish this weather would make up its mind. Was going to put away the winter clothes over the weekend but now I am glad that I didn't. Hear that the temp is going up to mid 70's tomorrow and then back down. Looks like for now I will have half summer/half winter clothes in the closet just in case
Not too much going on with me today. Have slacked off recording my food so I need to get back on the horse. Tutoring 2 kids after school. Subbed in 3rd grade yesterday. Let mw tell you that substitue teaching is WAY MORE difficult than regular teaching. I don't know how people do this 5 days a week. It takes everything out of me. Give me my own classroom any day of the week!
That's about it from beautiful Roxborough, PA. Hope that all of you have a good day and make the best food choices that you can. Take care.

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey. I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.
My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once. I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.
I am not familiar with either surgery either. I was interested in the Lap Band or RNY, and after meeting with Dr. Marymor at Barix, I went with RNY. I am very happy with it, and just love Dr. Marymor.
Good Luck,
Trish

Don't miss out on the annual Pennsylvania Pilgrimage, scheduled for October 5, 6 and 7 in Chambersburg. For those of you not sure what the PA Pilgrimage, which it is better known, is all about, allow me to explain. The Pilgrimage was started a couple years ago as a retreat for all Pennsylvania pre and post op weight loss surgery patients. It is a weekend getaway filled with support group meetings, special guest speakers, time at the famous Apple Harvest Festival, an optional mountain climb, meals as a group and much, much more. It is the perfect opportunity to meet and make new friends from all across the state of Pennsylvania. We've reserved a block of rooms at the Quality Inn in Chambersburg (1-717-263-3400) for the incredibly low rate of just $55 a night. Just mention the PA Pilgrimage when reserving your room to get this discounted rate. Please send me a personal message through my profile here so I can keep a tab on how we're doing in selling our block of rooms. Do yourself a favor. If you can make it, join us. You will not regret it. Where else can you go away for a weekend with the guarantee that everybody you'll be hanging with will have something in common with you? It will be a blast, as always. Thanks and take care.
Sincerely,
Andy Kovatch
OH should have a board for VSG and DS. You might be able to get information from there. I had an RNY 4 years ago. Sorry that I can't answer any of your questions. Just wanted to welcome you to the board. Please keep us posted about your WLS journey. Take care.

I'm sorry, but I am completely ignorant about both the VSG and DS surgeries! I went about it by finding a surgeon first, and chose Barix for several reasons, and then listened to that surgeon's recommendation for me, which was to have the RNY. Sorry I'm not more help. Hopefully some others will jump in here.
Blessings, Jill
WLS 5/31/07. Maintaining a weight loss of 141 pounds and feeling amazing!
This is my first post. I'm a Lehigh Valley resident. I'm considering VSG or DS. I can't find a local surgeon who will perform DS. I'd have to travel to Warminster to have that surgery. I'm considering Dr. Holland for the VSG. Has anyone had him as a surgeon? My insurance doesn't require the 6 month pre-op process and neither does he. Can anyone tell me what his process will be like? My BMI is 41.6, and the DS sounds very attractive, but I'm not sure its necessary to make the drive for the surgery if VSG will work with a highly regarded local surgeon. Any tips or input would be greatly appreciated.
Come support each other as we find ways to maintain our wonderful weight loss. As always, the main focus of this meeting are topics as they relate to post-ops, so please come by and share your WOW moments, as well as whatever else is on your mind.
The Place: 280 Middletown Boulevard, Langhorne, PA 19047
The time: 7 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m.
If you are celebrating a surgiversary, please bring any props (clothes worn prior to WLS, pictures), you will get 5 minutes to share what it was like, what it is like now and what you look forward to.
We have a nutritionist at every meeting and while all are welcome to attend our support groups, nutritional consults cannot be given to non-Barix patients, but no matter where you had surgery if you feel in need of support we welcome you!
On a last note, while we recognize that there are times when babysitting might be an issue, it would be appreciated if small children were not brought to the meeting, as there are times people have a need to discuss things where having a small child there inhibits their ability to discuss openly talk about what they need to. Thank you for your understanding.
