Beth I have also fought the weight demons my entire life. I first came to OH at Dr. Pupkova's recommendation and found great support during a pre op insurance journey that took forever. Well, 18 months.
Post op, I will be forever indebted to Liz R. who was a regular here at the time. I was having my first dumping experience and she jumped on within seconds - literally seconds! - to help me up understand what was happening. (Now I wonder exactly how I got to the keyboard from being curled up on the bathroom floor.)
I have learned a lot here. Great recipes, support connections, questions answered, and some friends both virtual and face to face.
I hope that we can maintain that kind of community here that will be helpful to newbies....and each other.

It seems that some have forgotten what this board is all about. It really is upsetting and disappointing to me. As a person who has struggled with my weight my WHOLE life and being teased my WHOLE childhood/adulthood about it, I cannot stay quiet and not say anything about this. I know that many of you came to this board for the same reasons I did. Support, advice, love and even a swift kick in the ass when we needed it. This board is supposed to be a safe place for us to vent, cry, etc. It was NEVER for bashing or "mean talk" about other patients! I have made it my mission to not tolerate ANY meanness in my life. Our time here on earth is TOO short to waste on that!!
I would like to call out to all of you out there to keep the meanness out of this board.

Oh my Gosh!! I did not even think about blood clots or edema, or any of that. I am sorry. Yes you are right those seats are very tight. I will keep my opinion to myself. I know you will find the best Dr. for you close to home. Some of the Surgeons records look great around Philly. Be Blessed!!! Michelle

Jarabacoagirl - I am self pay at Abington too. I went to the information session last night and I am very excited about the process. I am also considering a VSG. I haven't picked the surgeon but I am leaning towarder Bonanni.

I got the green light from the Nutritionist yesterday.
Lost 3 inches off my waist.
15 lbs left on my pre surgery weight goal.
yeah for me.......................................
I haven't lost any weight this last month after twising my left knee almost 3 wks ago. doc put me on meds and I am hoping they work.
will I go out and bat the ball for the granddaughter's baseball team again, oh yes I will... it was FUN.. lol
Although I am having problems with the professional and testing fees coverage by NOT having coverage, I am staying with the program and doing what I have to do to get the coverage. I WILL get over this hurdle and win the race. As frustrating as it is, I have to keep on my track and continue with the program.
I see Psych on June 29th... oh yeah, can't wait, NOT... I hate shrinks.... they give me the willies..
Hubby is going nuts with me. He likes to look at different recipes. When he starts to tell me about one, I ask him..... FAT, Cholesterol, Carbs, Sugar, Protein... When he goes down the list, I say sorry, but it's NOT on our diet plan. so he has to think of ways of making it in our diet plan...
He does do his best at trying to make it fit into our diet plan. He's a good guy. he will probably have his surgery before me. but that is ok...
