Topic: Wednesday Roll Call
 Good Morning PA!

It is after 11am and no one posted roll call? It has been a busy day already!! Had to leave baby girl at home with Daddy today. Poor kid cannot stop coughing!  Took her to the pediatrician and she has an Upper Respiratory Infection. The doctor thought she "heard" Something in her lungs. So, antibiotics, fluids and rest. Although that it difficult when u r coughing.... Poor baby!!

I am covering classes today but I kind of had a feeling that I would be. I saw that the other music teacher was taking personal days today and tomorrow. So I guess I will. E doing this again tomorrow...

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Topic: First Saturday Barix Langhorne, Support Group

I'm here to remind everyone that this upcoming Saturday, June 2nd,  is our WLS support group.  We will have a special guest, a Barix post-op, Sharon R., who is successing beyond her wildest dreams, she became a certified Zumba instructor and she wants to give us a demo of what Zumba is and how much fun it brings to the exercise part of this journey.  She will be giving us a 15/20 minute Zumba demo right after introductories, so if you want to participate, please bring your sneakers and perhaps a towel.

Time:  11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Place:  280 Middletown Boulevard, Langhorne, PA 19047

The Format of our meeting this month will be introductions, including any WOW moment you wish to share briefly, Zumba instruction, sharing of sugervisaries and please if you are celebrating your's bring your props (pictures and/or an item of clothing that used to fit you), as you will have up to 5 minutes to tell us, how life was before surgery, how life has changed since surgery and what your hopes going forward are.

After the surgiversaries are celebrated we will break out into smaller groups as needed.  The main focus of this group is post-op related topics and associated issues and while we welcome everyone to attend, as always, there will be a smaller focus group for those newly post-op and those still exploring their options and therefore you have the choice of sitting in with those further out or the newer post-ops.

We welcome all those seeking support, no matter where you had your surgery, however, while all are welcome to attend our support groups, other services, such as nutritional counseling, are limited to Barix patients only.

Lastly, please remember that some topics, and/or the need for people to feel free to discuss whatever they need to, are not for the ears of young children, so if you need to bring your child(ern), please keep that in mind.

I look forward to welcoming you there!

Laureen

Topic: Wednesday - Whatcha Eating Today?
Thanks to those who participate and I just want to say that this post helps me to stay accountable, but the important part in sharing what we are eating is for those who come after us, being able to see what they have in store, newly post-op and further along. . .  many come wondering what will life be like after WLS, so even if you're new and/or just beginning, this serves two purposes, one getting you in the habit of logging food choices and two, helping others, either ideas or informationally. . .  if you're not a real planner, please just log in at the end of the day and post what you did eat. . .    Thanks again!!!

I am almost 5 years post-op and my plan for today is as follows:

B:  1/3 of a small banana, 2 protein packed apple ricotta pancakes (3 inch size) and 1.5 pieces of turkey bacon

S:  Yogurt and rest of my banana

L:  3/4 cup of Homemade Turkey chili, made with black beans, turkey, onions, diced tomato and seasonings, sprinkle of l/f cheddar

S:  peach and cheese (1 oz.)

D:  Homemade seafood sauce with a salad of romaine, red onion and tomato

S:  Watermelon

Hi Trish,
I live on the other end ofthe state.  When I was researching my RNY, I learned about my surgeon on Obesity Help, at support groups at the hospital I was going to, and here.  If you don't get any help here on the PA forum, try the OH page with surgeons information, and attend a couple support groups at the hospital you'll be going to.

Good luck, and welcome to the PA forum.

 Hi Jill,
Except for an occassional hot flash, I am chilled all the time.  I prefer this hot weather than the winter cold.  Also, although I feel old due to chronic ongoing health problems, I love the healthy, strong feeling I have most of the time.  When I look in the mirror, I see the flaws, the batwing arms, and the sagging skin.  But, I also see a woman *****spects herself, and treats her body as God's temple.

Hugs,
Trish

I am currently waiting to see Dr. Gagne for the start of my journey and was wondering if anyone has had him do their surgery? I have spent the last 7 years debating RNY and have finally decided, now's the time. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Trish

I second what everyone else said. You are going to do great and a few months after your surgery you will be able to look back on it and be thankful that you made the decision to have the surgery and take back your life. Swede
