Hi Lynne,

Thanks, so much for your reply!  I'm a teacher, and cleaning out my closet is a beginning of summer ritual that I look forward to yearly.  This time, however, I had the added bonus of pulling out clothes that are WAY past their prime and that I hope not to need in the future.  I primarily purged fall and winter items - and items that I haven't worn in a very, very long time.

I've been doing a ton or reading - like many people do, I would guess - and I hope I have realistic expectations of what's to come. I've kept everything that fits now for summer and plenty of clothing for fall and winter...  and I'm trying to focus on the positive outcome and I'm ready to go with the flow.

Thanks for the feedback about laptops... I called last week.  My husband called today and got as far as a facilities guy.  No one seemed to know if there is access to wifi in the building.  But they seemed to be able to tell him that people seem to be able to use their laptops.  I know it will work out.  It's not the priority of the day, but it would certainly make things easier.

Thanks, again, for the good information.  I am grateful to have found this forum and the knowledgeable folks who have walked this path before me.

Have an excellent day!
Lauren

Lauren, be prepared for some post op swelling that may keep you using some of those old, clothes for the first week or so. I was prepared for thenwt gain from fluids in the hospital, but the lingering swelling surprised me....made all the sense in the world, but I wasn't expecting it.

And yes, I think laptops are ok at Barix. Call to be 110% sure this weekend.

Topic: Surgery Monday - Barix Folk - Help Please
Hello, Pennsylvania!

Got my call from one of the friendly nurses and arrival time on Monday is 6:45... Surgery is scheduled for 8 or 8:30.  Thirteen pounds down on liquids only this week - I don't think I've ever NOT "cheated" on a diet until now!  I feel great, and nervous, and totally excited at the same time.

Purged the closet of 6 bags of clothing that I will never wear again this morning.  I guess part of my process with this is saying goodbye to the old me and clothing in sizes I care not to see in the closet from now on.

So, looking forward to Monday, I have a question for anyone who might have recent experience at Barix.

***My husband is in the middle of a CRAZY work deadline and REALLY, REALLY needs to be on his laptop during the time that he is there with me.

Have you, your family, or visitors been able to use laptops in the waiting area? Or any other part of the hospital???

Any information is much appreciated!

Have an excellent day!

Topic: RE: TGIF - Whatcha Eating today?
5 years, 22 days post-op and feeling grateful today:

1 - egg, salami, english muffin

2 - banana

3 - sushi, I think.

4 - strawberries/watermelon

5 - burger and salad

6 - SF ice cream

I'm listening to the pouch again today.  It really is fascinating after having ignored him for so long.  It does take concentration and awareness that I'm not used to.  Mindful eating vs. Mindless eating.  Willingness to let go of food that's staring me in the face and calling my name.  Just for today, I can do that.

Blessings, Jill

For last years surgeries I mortgaged my house. This year I did 12 months, same as cash with 0% interest at Geisinger. It is a budget breaker but worth it.  You should examine your options. I know of someone who got a 0% credit card to charge their surgery.   Believe me I can't afford this - I am just reprioritizing  my spending. I can not describe how great it feels not having to tuck in skin.  The budget cuts are with it.

4 years, 8 months post-op, still living my dreams. . .my food plan is as follows:

B:  Eggbeater omlet with l/f cheddar and gutted w/w everything bagel

S:  Cherries and wedge of laughing cow

L:  Salad with leftover steak

S:  Klondike slim bar

D:  Chicken with peppers and last of my mock pizza

S:  100 calorie bag of popcorn

Vitamins, calcium supplements and lots of water.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Good Morning Sara and Everyone else!!!

Sorry you're feeling poorly, but at the end of it all, you will be looking quite lovely I'm sure, can I say I'm just a bit jealous because I cannot afford the plastics to fix all the skin that hangs and sags on my body, but hell, I'll take the body I have today over the one I had 5 years ago, at least I am not longer held back by my weight!  Wishing you well and hope your son enjoys his 5K, from the way you describe him, he sounds like a very wise young man and understanding of your current situation.

Beth, enjoy your vacation and continue to look on the positive side of things!

Lisa, I saw your pics of Siehara, she looked great, like she was ready to have a wonderful time!  Congrats to Neil!

Trish, hope you have a good day!

As for me, I am at work, unfortunately I have to wor****il 5 today, so that others in my office can take advantage of my firm's summer hours program, which I don't participate in because of having to wor****il 5, so because I was asked to accommodate others, I wind up working until 5 on some Friday's anyway, just hoping the traffic at 5 will be as easy as it was coming in today, only took me 40 minutes.  Lots of work to do, so I'm assured of a day that will go by in short order, heck it's already past 10. . .  tonight, I will try to get a manicure and then go home to relax with my Roxie girl. . .  not a whole lot planned for today, lots going on over the weekend and I do have to plan for next week, vacation!  I leave on Thursday night for Florida, but let me live in today, because that's where I am. . .

Hope everyone has a good day and stay hydrated!

Hugs, Laureen
