He is looking at as is it isn't that big of a deal. But we both talked about it. He is happy for me and we both agree that instead of rushing into his surgery right aways, this would give me time to heal before his surgery would get here.
I am so glad that we are doing this together. He told me that he will continue to do what he has been doing and I will help him stay on track.
I paid my global fee today. so it's now a matter of time till i meet the surgeon and get my date. I have knee surgery Aug 15th. Need the knee working right to walk, play Wii sports, Smurf Dance party, etc to help me with my weight loss. When I was up at GMC paying my global fee, I took a peek in on the scales. I lost 3 lbs since Monday. That is 27 since new years.

Good ideas! Thanks for posting them.
I try to make it difficult - wrapping food up so much that if I want to snack at night, I'll make so much noise, my huband will wake up is one way I do it. If it's a treat, even a SF treat, I buy one item for each of us, so there isn't a bagful sitting there for either of us to tear into.
As for those drive-thru's...well, I just read up on the restaurant's policies or politics or the last thing they were sued for. and that usually puts me off them...if you have not yet seen "Supersize Me," do so! You'll never want to visit that McD's again!

You don't say what your husband's reaction to all this has been. Has he been able to share your joy, in spite of his own concerns?
My EKG showed something abnormal too and it scared the heck out of me. At that point, I had a date and had cleared most hurdles. But I had the stress test and had the surgery a few months later...after a final scare of not being able to have the sleep study till about a week or so prior
.
Tell him to hang in there and reassure him that he's yours, no matter what.
I understand the feelings of guilt. Sort of like survivor's guilt. But know that, while you are on a journey together as spouses, you are also each on your own journey and have to follow your own path toward what's best for you. Your wellness can only help him, as well as you. You'll have more energy and confidence to help him to succeed as you begin to lose weight and feel better.
We who have been dealing with obesity through so much of our lives tend to take on pain and guilt that doesn't belong to us. You deserve good health. You deserve to be happy. You deserve the extra years that this surgery will give you.
Continue to post about your feelings and struggle, and attend support groups if you can. That can only help.

Hi Laureen,
It's good to see that you are still here and doing well!
Thanks for all the exercise ideas...I miss taking long walks every day. I believe I need to adjust my attitude about what I can do...that is, if I can't do a long walk, I feel like crap about it. That's not good. When I started losing weight before, I worked my way up to a longer distance. It doesn't work that way now - some days I can walk, some days I need extra pain meds just to sit on the couch and watch tv. It's frustrating because I don't know how to set a goal
.
Any how, thanks again.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Lynn. You make a good point about posting to boards.
I think next month I'll see if any local gyms (with pool) will give me a month-to-month membership. We are hoping to move within 4-6 months, so I don't want a contract.

Hi Trish,
Thanks for the info; I appreciate it. I'm glad to hear you are back on the right track and wish you continued success!
Regarding Lyme...the standard test is only about 30-50% accurate, so if you have symptoms that warrant a further look, this site might be a great help to you: www.ilads.org.

Topic: Hey PA Oldtimers! Where Are You Now?
Hi Everyone. . .
For a while now, the PA board has been much less active. Heck, it's summertime, lots to do, vacations to take, and on so many levels that is really a good thing, because what it says to me is that we've gone on with the business of living the good lives we've gotten as a result of taking this journey, some of us have gone on our way with new friends we've made along the way and again, it's great.
I, myself, am much busier today than ever, but I still try to stick around and offer, from experience and information I've gotten here and through research, to help to those that come seeking information, just as I did 6 years ago. . . and so, in part, due to the drop in of a few old an familiar people, I ask. . .
How are you? How is life after all this time? Where has this wonderful life changing journey taken you? Are you living your own personal "Successing" story? Have you had any regrets? Gained a little back due to whatever the reasons are? Or is it just that you feel like you've got nothing to share here?
Love to hear about you and your lives. . . so many fond memories of different friends. . . wondering where they are now. . .
Laureen
Have a great day!
