If you did not receive an acceptable response from the member services rep you spoke with, you can request/demand to speak with a Supervisor, Manager, Director of the department which I would strongly suggest that you do.

Hi there,
I don't know much about Geisinger Danville, as I had my surgery at Barix in Langhorne. When I was researching my surgery, I found a page here on OH about the different hospitals I was considering. It had feedback from OH members on their individual experiences at each one. Helped me tremendously.
I don't know anything about revisions. I'm seven years from my surgery date, and my pouch still works just fine.
Good luck,
Trish

Hi has anyone had their surgery in Danville pa I am looking into a revision and i had my surgery in hershey which is way to far and expensive to travel for me now...i am just wondering how geisinger is...also if anyone has had a revision i am not sure where to even start any help would greatly be appreciated
I had my panniculectomy & tummy tuck before hitting goal. I started at well over 400 lbs, and there was no way I'd get to a goal weight without getting that done. I live in NJ and had my WLS and plastics done in Bucks County, PA, so I can't recommend a surgeon in your part of the state, but it is definitely possible. Also, my insurance paid for the whole thing. I have a Blue Cross PPO and I did my research and found out their criteria -- even though I wasn't at my goal at that time, I had lost over 100 lbs and that helped fulfill the requirements.
Good luck with it.

I researched the hospitals in Philly prior to choosing Barix. Obesity Help had patient reviews of the hospitals providing bariatric surgery, and the reviews of the regular hospitals were not flattering in the least. Barix is entirely different. All of the surgeons do one thing, bariatric surgery. The entire staff specializes in the care and needs of bariatric patients before, during and after.
Another huge difference, which I learned from observing my sister since her lap band surgery at Jeanes Hospital several years ago. Barix provides nutritionists, which are included at each of my post-op visits, no extra charge.
I love Dr. Marymor, and appreciate that upon discharge he game me his cell phone number, in case I had a problem, which I did a couple of times. I'm seven years post-op, and now live in Michigan, but I still make my annual appointments at Barix with him, when I visit my family in Bucks County.
Barix has three different support groups every month. One pre-op, one post-op, and a Saturday meeting for both. A nutritionist is available at every one of them for questions or concerns.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think such specialized care at any other facility in the area.

One thing about Barix, is that is all they do is Bariatric surgery, there infection rate I believe is 0, the care is like I have never seen before and I worked in a hospital for 25 years.
their support group is free, I had my SX there 6 1/2 years ago and I can still call the nutritionist for advice n help, the Dr. That did my surgery is no longer there but now Dr. Marymoor takes just as good care of me as if he did my surgery.
so they don't forget u even years later and their rooms are private
good luck

I have a friend who is currently looking into gastric bypass surgery in PA. She has not ruled out Barix but is just not sure. Can anyone give any other suggestions and also give some input on their support groups? TIA

Hi Jeannine,
I'm going to answer your question with a question. Did you find a plastic surgeon who said no??? Being a cash business, I would be shocked if that is the case. They charge what they want because they know our insurance won't cover it. As for the not hitting your goal after five years? Are you maintaining your weight loss? If so, the plastic surgeon should do the surgery.
Good luck,
Karen
