Well, at least you won't be on liquids for your daughters wedding! Gotta look on the bright side!!
The doctors are erring on the side of caution, which is what they should do....believe me I know! It took me over a year to get approved and then I went to have my PAT's and they wouldn't let me have the surgery because of an ongoing medical issue. Once I got that figured out, I had the surgery about two months later. That was three years ago and about 120lbs ago....it will happen!!
Good luck!
Beth

Hey everyone.
Huge event today. I went to work out. After literally months of good intentions, followed by every excuse in the book (too hot, too early, too late, don't want to carry the gym bag, too far a drive for today...)
I worked out. Felt great.
Off work today so have a zillion things to do, ranging from a trip through the car wash to packing up for a Labor Day weekend in Vermont with the kids. REALLY looking forward to that! I hope Mike and I can get out on the lake in the kayaks - once I get my confidence paddling, I might do a trip at the nature conservancy down here. Of course, this time of year the mosquitos out there will probably pick me up and carry me away, but....
And if you don't follow me on facebook, we were spared the worst of the hurricane last weekend. I was very prepared...figured out a lot of "what ifs." Fortunately this neck of the woods is not likely to have mandatory evacuations, and we are too close to the tip of FL for most storms to make the sharp turn and come ashore right here.
For those anticipating back to school...school started here either August 13 or 20! Of course they already had one day off - not a snow day of course, but a hurricane day!

that's true. I'm making bake pop cakes for her wedding as party favors.
I can have a piece of her wedding cake, too...
I tried the dress on today that I wore when I married my 2nd hubby. It will be 16 yrs come december for us being married. The dress fit even though there was still some tummy buldge. IT FELT GOOD to fit into that dress.

"My surgeon told me that they do the surgery while you are in a standing position for 3 hrs."
That sounds strange to me- you might want to double check on that...

due to having knee surgery on the 15th, my knee surgeon told my stomach surgeon that he recommended waiting for 8 wks for me to have my stomach surgery. so now my date is Oct 10. no problem....
My surgeon told me that they do the surgery while you are in a standing position for 3 hrs. wow... when she first told me that I had to wait, I thought to myself, "man another detour/roadblock".. IF this keeps going, I'll have my surgery aroudn the time for my birthday... which is Nov 6. lol....
I have a stress test this friday.. they will inject me with stuff to increase the heart rate.. now, that scares me...

Topic: Barix Langhorne First Saturday Meeting - September 1
Hi Everyone,
While I do know it is the Labor Day weekend, we are still having the 1st Saturday Meeting at Barix, so please come by and share your WOW moments, as well as whatever else is on your mind.
The Place: 280 Middletown Boulevard, Langhorne, PA 19047
The time: 11:00 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m.
If you are celebrating a surgiversary, please bring any props (clothes worn prior to WLS, pictures), you will get 5 minutes to share what it was like, what it is like now and what you look forward to.
We have a nutritionist at every meeting and while all are welcome to attend our support groups, nutritional consults cannot be given to non-Barix patients, but if you feel in need of support we welcome you!
We recognize that there are times when babysitting might be an issue, however, we really would appreciate not having small children there, as there are times people have a need to discuss things that having a small child there inhibits their ability to discuss things openly and also the children often are a distraction. Thank you for your understanding.
For those who don't know yet, starting Thursday, September 6th, at 7 p.m., Barix will be hosting Zumba, the class will be run by a Barix star patient, Sharon Reardon, and will meet at Barix each Thrusday and based on attendance, they might add a 2nd night in the future. The cost is very nominal at $5. So bring your towel, because you will sweat and just move to the music, it does not matter if you've ever been a dancer, it is FUN, FUN and more FUN!!!
If you can't make it to our meeting this month, hope to see you soon, have a safe and happy Labor Day!
Laureen

Trish,
Congratulations!!!
You certainly are an example of what post-WLS is like long-term, you hit some rough patches and picked yourself up, dusted yourself off and picked up what works and are working it and that is what this journey is all about! I applaud your "successing" thusfar and wish you many more years of healthier and engaged living!
