Nicole,

Although I have never had the opportunity to meet you, I have always appreciated your honest and down to earth posts.  Happy surgiversary.  It is more difficult these days to get excited once the novelty has worn off and the daily struggles of living can get you down.  I know that you are much better off in so many ways from the woman you were 6 years ago.  I admire the courage you have to tackle your issues and deal with life - not run away from it.  I hope that growth continues for you and that this next year will see many graces come your way.  I always am happy to see you post.  Take good care of yourself.

I didn't want the chinese because of being hungry, I wanted it to give my taste buds flavor... That store bought broth is terrible....

My husband is loving this, though... means he can cook food that I don't like and enjoy it.  He made spaghetti other night.  The only thing chunky in my sauce is the burger meat.  he chopped up other things and put in it...  YUK...  Told him to enjoy it while he can... lol

When I was on my post-op liquid diet, my mom and sister wanted to get Chinese, but didn't want to upset me.  I told them to order some Wonton soup for me.  I strained the solid stuff out, and sipped the broth.  I did the same thing with some homemade chicken and beef soups I had made prior to my surgery.  Tasted better than the broth you buy in the store.

Hang in there.  It is all worth it.

Hugs,
Trish

Topic: New Bariatric Surgeon in Uniontown PA
Greetings Everyone: My name is Patrica Patton RN and I have a Support Group in Uniontown PA for the past 4 1/2 years . The good news is we now have Bariatric Surgery offered at Uniontown Hospital and the new surgeon is Dr. Gustavo Bello. I sit on a committee at Uniontown Hospital and am very impressed with Dr Bello and his desire to help the obese community become healthy and trim. I had a gastric bypass 5 1/2 yrs ago ( losing and maintaining a 186 lbs off) and had to travel 75 miles from home. It is great to see our community step up to the plate and get the ball rolling for the people of Fayette County. If you are not aware of it Fayette County is the "fattest" county in PA and the fattest city is Philadelphia.I am encouraging anyone in the Fayette, Greene and Westmoreland Counties interested in a good support group try it. We meet the 1st Monday of each month. If you have questions you can call me at 724-880-8050. I am very anxious to hear from you. Watch the local newspaper or call Uniontown Hospital 724-430-5000 for information on its new Bariatric Program and free weekly seminars offered. Dr Bello offers the LapBand, the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy adn the Gastric ByPass. Fayette County there are no excuses left. Let's get healthy and let's lose the title of the "fattest" County....

Missing you Nicole and always wishing the best for you.  Do take time to honor your 6 year milestone.  Life really can be a struggle sometimes, and we kind of get "weighed down" with all the stuff that we have to deal with.   So I hope you remember today all the good in your life and all the people who wish you great things to come.

Nicole,

Congrats on your surgiversary!  I think to some extent, not realizing it is just a way of knowing that life is not solely about WLS anymore and that is in some way a good thing. . .  While we don't want to forget what life was once like, least we ever go back to it, we certainly had this surgery to be more "normal" (lol), whatever normal means. . .  I think when we take this journey, it opens doors to many places, some of which we did not want to go, but now have to face opening those doors and dealing with so much more in order to continue successing. . . hope to see you in person somewhere, sometime soon. . . you are a success story in the making, as so long as we are breathing, it is still a work in progress. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Hi all with all of the insanity that has been happening this week I completely missed that my 6 year surgiversary was yesterday. I have to say I am kind of sad that I did not take the day to reflect and that I did not treat myself better yesterday and honor that milestone. Due to bad news I got last night today has not started out to be a be good to be day either. But I did get an OH email that said congratulations we see it is your anniversary to remind me. So it did and tomorrow I will do better and I will spend some time reflecting and I will be damned if this next year will be marked the same as last. This is the slope down a very tall mountain I have been climbing. I hope you all have a good day. Blog post coming soon

Topic: RE: 1st Saturday, Oct. 6, Barix, Langhorne Support Group

I've been thinking of many of the folks that I met through Barix and would love to see people who haven't been to our meetings for quite some time.

I know how many of us struggle with keeping the weight off.  Yes, we all felt an emotional high when the pounds were coming off, when the compliments were numerous and when we discovered all the things we could do having many less pounds to carry around.    Time passes and even though we feel great about our accomplishments, we discover that we now have to do daily battle with our minds, and the thoughts that we have.  You know the ones that I mean.  They tell us we are lonely, stressed, unfulfilled, unworthy and on and on.  The voice in our head tells us we will feel much better if we have that ice cream or cake or whatever.   As food addicts, you know the end of the story.

Anyway, I would love to see many former Barix friends come to a meeting.  Support is an important component of this lifelong commitment.   Join us and share your successes and struggles.
