Hello Pennsylvania!!

After going back and forth a bit with the scheduler, and several moments of panic thinking I was going to have to wait until the end of August - I am scheduled for June 25th!  Pre-admissions testing is this Wednesday - and I have never been so excited to be looking at a 10 day liquid diet!!

Have an excellent evening!
Lauren

Hi Jackie!

I passed the PATs...  Liquid diet starts on the 15th and surgery is scheduled for the 25th!  I'm so excited!  The Pre-Op support group was very helpful - for me and for Noah...  It made him feel more comfortable with me taking this step!

Thanks for your kind words!

YAY LAUREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Koganski wasn't that bad, was he?!

Today is day #1 of liquid!! Just remember fight through the first 3 days and you will do just fine! Is Noah doing the liquid diet with you? My husband would have never made it.. LOL!

I'm so glad you came to the support group meeting! It was great to meet you and your hubby. It seems you have been blessed already with a great support system!! The next meeting (which is post op, but everyone is welcome) is on Wednesday, June 20th.. you should come!!

Congratulations again! You are going to be AWESOME!!

Good luck, Lauren.  I was blessed.  My surgeon used the open procedure for my RNY, so no liquid diet was necessary for my surgery.

I highly recommend Isopure Protein Drink, Grape Frost, clear liquid that has 40 mg. of protein in each bottle.  Your 10 day liquid diet will give you the opportunity to learn what you can do for your post-op recuperation.  One of my favorites is a smoothy made with no sugar added yogurt, skim milk and berries.  I add ice so that it stays cold.  It is so satisfying.  You can add protein powder to help make your post-op protein goals.  I use AnyWhey protein powder.  Another favorite is a chocolate, sugar free Carnations Instant Breakfast, a scoop of my protein powder and 8 ounces of skim milk.  Taste like chocolate milk with about 30 grams of protein in it.

What hospital are you going to.  Oh, wait, I won't be able to visit you because I am having sinus surgery that same day.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish!

Thanks so much for ALL of the GREAT information!  I will definitely try some of the protein supplements and let you know how it goes...  I'll be at Barix on 6/25...  Good luck with your sinus surgery!!

Lauren,

Congrats on your being scheduled, sounds like it went just as you hoped by a week or so. . .

Hi Beth!

Happy almost summer!  As a teacher, I love this time of year!  I'm excited - and nervous - but really trying to focus on ALL of the positive things that will come from taking this step.

I will keep you posted!
