OT - Bullies?

Some of you saw this on FB but this will, I hope, be a good place to ask the question:

Were you ever the victim of bullying? As a child? Teen? Adult?

What happened?

How did you handle it or resolve the issue?

I am working on a blog piece (perhaps an article to submit for publication) about bullying. Your confidentiality is assured. Feel free to answer here, via facebook private message (Lynn Lucas McLean) or e mail at [email protected].

Appreciate your experiences to help build a VERY important piece!

Lynn,

Yes I was a victim and it sucked.   My son has been bullied too, for much different reasons.  I have vented about that here.  That sucked too.  I would be willing to help you out.  I will email you my cell#.

Yes I was a victim.   Since I started school, I was always bullied.  I remember in first grade, bigger kids always did stuff to me to where I would play hookie just so that I did not have to face the bullies.  When I was in 2nd grade, we moved from one elem school to another in town.  The new 2nd grade teacher I had did NOT like transfer students, so I got bullied from her. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that my parents found out.   I normally would go in corner and cry when I was little.  When I got into jr high and sr high, it was different.  Although I was mainly a quiet, backwards kid, push come to shove,  I did face and fight my bullies.  In 9th grade, we had a tour at the Vo-tech school.  I got this brainy idea that IF I went to that school, the bullying would stop.   WRONG...   I didn't know how seniors acted.  The one guy and his cronies.... everyday same thing...  throwing gum at my hair, taking my books and putting gum in the pages, etc...  It ended one day when the ONLY seat on the bus was back in their section.  HE started in one day on way home from school.  I had had enough by then, stood up turned around and belted him right in the face.  The shock on his face was priceless. He quit after that.  I wasn't the only one he did this too, either...

I think for some of us that's how the food problems all started.  By being bulled in school as kids.  Lowers some of our self esteems.  So we turned to food for comfort.  Discovered we like food and keeped on eating and eating and eating.   Now we are adults and have been used to turning to food when stressed just like we did as kids.
