VSG on 01/05/12
I know it's been a few days since you posted, but I just got VSG surgery on the 5th.  I also had a hard time last year getting Blue Cross to pay for it, they wanted me to get the bypass.  They finally approved it. You should appeal because you were the exact weight as me and other much heavier have gotten VSG and done really well.  Get your doctor to write an appeal letter stating your specific need for VSG.  I will tell you not all surgeons advice you to take Nsaids, the do prefer tylenol because of the risk of stomach ulcers.  As far as the surgery, I was amazed how good I felt post-op.  I had no real pain just minor discomfort from the gas they blow in you for laporscopic.  I feel great now and I'm tollerating my liquid diet well.  So happy with my choice, you just need to pick the one all around best for you.  They all work if you comply to the diet.  Good Luck!
