Hi,

I am Joanne. I was sleeved on Sept. 19th in NJ. I live in PA though. I was wondering if there were any support groups around the Yardley/Newtown/Langhorne/Bensalem area? I go to the one at my doctors, but I don't find that I am getting anything out of it. They meet once a month and it is pretty boring. Noone seems to talk up or anything. I am hoping that other meetings are not like these and maybe I can go somewhere else.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Joanne,

The Barix clinic in Langhorne (right outside of Oxford Valley Mall) has a support group that meets 3 times a month.

1st Saturday - Pre & Post Op
2nd Tuesday (10/11) - Preop
3rd Wednesday (10/19) - Post Op

I speak from quite a bit of experience when I say that this group is beyond anything I would have ever imagined!! The amount of love, support, and knowledge provided to us from former patients, former non patients, and nutritionists is FABULOUS!! Please join us when you get the opportunity, you will NOT be dissappointed..I can guarantee it!! You are welcome to attend any of these meetings!!

Hope to see you there!!

Hi, thanks for your reply. I wasn't sure if anyone could go to Barix. I have been on the website, but must not have been looking in the right place.

Could you tell me what time the meetings are? I am really interested in attending.

Thank you again,

Joanne

 Yeah....What Jackie said!!! :)

And I have to concur!  I have recommited myself to going to as many meetings as possible.  I block the dates on my calendar far in advance so nothing interferes.  It is one of the main ways that I stay strong.  There are times when I can't wait to go to share the good.  And then there are times that I HAVE to go because of struggles.  It doesn't matter where you had your surgery, we are all in this together!  Hope to see you at our next meeting, Wednesday night, 10/19 at 7!

Oh, and congrats on your Sleeve and welcome to the Losers bench!!!!!!!! :)

Please, please come.  So many of us have found that just cannot do this alone, and it is so wonderful to know that we don't have to!

I am working with Barix for my surgery so I attend there, but they will welcome anyone. Everyone is really friendly; it's like a second family and I always feels "in place" when I'm there.  I think you'll especially get a kick out of Micheal aka "Brad Pitt", lol.

Hope to get to meet you next Tuesday :)

Peace & Blessings... Kelly

I concur. It is a lot like a family but this one understands what you are going through. Welcome!
