I had open with Dr. Marymor four years ago because at that time that is how he did RNY.  If he now feels that would be a better option for you,  my recommendation is to trust his opinion.   I only have good things to say about Dr. Marymor.   The time and caring he gives to his patients are highly valued by those of us who had our surgery with him.  Yes, the recovery period is longer than Lap Band, but I managed fine.  After a couple of days, I didn't even take pain meds.  I moved about slowly, but I did move and walk around.  Any time that I needed Dr M, he was available to talk to me and help me out.
