I'm so sorry to hear this. I have hypothyroid (Hashimoto's) and I know how awful it can be when your thyroid crashes. It's so hard to rest when you're used to "go, go, go!" I hope you feel much better soon.

Ah, Pam - I'm so glad you caught this before it went further and you did serious damage to yourself!

NOW - re-frame your thinking a bit.  So much of this journey for many of us is about learning to take care of ourselves for the first time, instead of focusing all our energy on taking care of others.  It's also about challenging ourselves to do the hard things, the scary things, the things we thought we couldn't (or shouldn't) do.

This 2-week break from exercise is something you have to do to focus on your health and care for yourself, just as having a regular exercise program, eating plan, and medical checkups are part of caring for yourself.  It's just part of the long-term process.  It's also damned hard for you, so it also fits the second criteria.

For me, it's really scary when I'm "not allowed" to exercise because I fear deeply going back to the way I was "before."  Continuing to exercise keeps me on the path of good and is a way of reinforcing for myself that I will never allow myself to go back there.  That's a good fear - but it has to be balanced with the need to also listen to what my body needs to be healthy, which is, after all is said and done, the ultimate goal here.

I understand your fear and your frustration.  Work with it and keep your ultimate health goals in mind and before you know it the time will be up and you'll be clear to start back in with exercise.  On day 18, P90 may NOT be where you want to start after a 2-week enforced break... you don't want to end up injured... let yourself work back into it sensibly.  This is a marathon, not a sprint!

If there's ANYTHING you need, you know I'm only a phone call away.

Hugs

Karen
