Beth I am so sorry you must have been so traumatized. Unfortunately in my line of work I see irresponsible adults everyday, and their selfishness can be amazing. I cant give advice because I have no kids, but I do know you will make the right decision as to what to do. How is Dee?

WOW! First of all I am so glad that Dee is OK! That is most important.

I would totally agree with cancelling the "after school arangements". I think that is perfectly acceptable. Now if Dee wants to still see her, since she is right next door I'd say that's OK but no more outings!

*hugs* glad it is all OK now.

So glad your little one is ok!! What a stressful night!! I still cant get over how late she had her out....how can she feel that that is ok.  And honestly all ot would have took was a phone call.  Anyhoo, I agree with you only having playdates at your house under your supervision.  I babysit everyday and am in constant contact with my parents.  Take Care and I am too hoping for a snow day on Wednesday!! :)

Beth I simply can't imagine how this must have felt! Of course I agree with your plan of action....Dee keeps her friendship with her playmate, and you are in control.

You can also feel free to set some house rules about how this little girl behaves and treats others in your home. Simple things like, "we share all the toys," or "we don't speak that way at our house," will go a long way during teachable moments.

So glad that Dee is safe, but also sure that you are emotionally exhausted!

I cannot imagine how you felt.  I was getting panicked just reading through what happened.  Glad Dee is ok - the hardest part is that Dee will wind up being hurt by not being able to hang out with her friend and they girls wind up being punished for the bad behaviour of irresponsible adults.  Supervision at your house is probably the best way, but no decision on this front is easy.  The answer that you are most comfortable with and one that keeps Dee safe will come to you!

Maura,

It was the WORST feeling in the world! The worst part is that Dee is STILL exhausted from the weekend, so much so that she could not finish her homework last night. I sent her to bed at 7:30 just so she could get some extra sleep. I am so hoping for a snow day tomorrow so we both can get some extra sleep!!

Thanks for your supportive words!

Love, Beth
