Black Friday Roll Call
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family. We shared Thanksgiving with our next door neighbors. They had a traditional Vietnamese spread. We all sat on the floor and enjoyed eggrolls, rice and hot pot soup. We also had turkey, stuffing and green bean casserole that I made. It was just like the first Thanksgiving!! My apple pie was FABULOUS!! No one could believe that it was sugar free. We enjoyed conversations and time spent with them. Dee played with her friend so it was enjoyable for all of us! I posted some pics of the feast on FB if anyone is interested in seeing what we had...
Today I am staying FAR away from any mall! As a former retailer, I still have nightmares about Black Friday!! I finished all my holiday shopping for Dee, so I don't need to get anything. I am going to take Dee and her friend to see the movie "Tangled" then maybe out to lunch afterward.
The rest of the day will be open....
So what are you doing today?
Have a great day whatever you are doing!
Beth

Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds lovely. I love to blend cultures and feast.
Today I am not shopping either. My son and I are joining my sister and Mom at the Cleopatra exhibit at the Franklin Institute. I finished packing last night and am just waiting to packmy meds.
For those who are shopping, stay safe. It can get crazy out there.
Hugs,

Our dinner was lovely!! I LOVE the Franklin Institute!! Have fun and enjoy! It probably will not be crowded since everyone else is with those crazy shoppers!
Take care, Beth

Siehara and I spent Thanksgiving eve and day with Tanya and her family. Wednesday night, Tanya and I drove to BWI airport to pick up her hubby. All the kids stayed overnight with her aunt.
Thursday, we prepped for Thanksgiving with everyone pitching in. We had a nice lunch together with her mom and dad and then napped a bit. A bit later a friend of hers and her family stopped by. Later in the evening we headed to another aunt's house for dinner. I did overindulge, but would not say I ate too much "off plan". Her family made us feel very much at home, even telling us that we had to serve ourselves. LOVE THAT!
We brought Marshall home with us and he spent the night. Tanya went out with her aunts/cousins/mom at 3 am for shopping madness. Lola is home with daddy and they are going to go to the movies. Marshall slept until about 7:30. That was great!! Tanya did call me at 5am from Boscov's to tell me that she got 2 presents for Siehara.. oye.. Thanks, but you didn't have to call so early... lol..
So, since I was up, I started to work. The office is closed today, but if I work for the holiday, I get double time and a half. YEP, I'm putting in as many hours as I can before Siehara gets tired of helping out with the boy. Siehara has her Bat Mitzvah tutoring today at 11. We postponed Wednesday night to make it easier on everyone. I'll drop her off and probably head over to the Good Will near the tutors home. They are also having a Black Friday sale, so maybe I can get a few things there. I am going to meet Kelley at some point after his movie to give him Marshall.
Other than that, I will spend the day relaxing and catching up on some much needed down time.
I hope everyone spent or is spending their time with their loved ones and being thankful for all the blessings in their life.
It is the traditional Vietnamese way of doing Thanksgiving. They sit in a circle and feast on what ever they want. Kind of like going to a Japanese restaurant and sitting on pillows on the floor...They also take off their shoes as soon as they enter a home....which I also found interesting!
Have a great one!!
Love, Beth

Good Morning Beth & PA;
I'm finally back online after our internet being out for the last 21/2 days. I hate this internet carrier we now have. The old company sold out new one takes over and now nothing but trouble. So it looks like I will begin researching new internet carriers.
Yesterday was an amazing day. In the morning we went to church from 6:30am to 1:00pm. Our church runs a homeless ministry. The second and fourth Saturdays of the month we open the church doors for the homeless in Center City to come in get washed up, have a hot meal, be treated like human beings with dignity and respect, and watch a movies for the afternoon.
Yesterday since most other Ministries in the city have Turkey Dinners for the homeless our church decided to have Breakfast/Brunch. We had some amazing Chef's and Sou Chefs arrive at our kitchen to prepare the food, then the rest of us acted as wait staff, hosts/hostesses, and had an amazing day with some amazing men/women/and children that are the faces of the homelesss in Philadelphia.
After church we headed up to Gene's sister's in Coatesville for dinner with the family. After my little bowl of homemade Italian Wedding Soup I was full so no Turkey for me - in all honesty I love the soup so I was very satisfied. Gene has a pretty bad cold so he didn't eat much of anything and instead went to the living room to nap until it was time to leave.
Today I'm hanging out at home - Gene is working. I think I'll make a Sweet Potato Pie and some Pie Crust Cookies for Gene. I also have to start packing and organizing the house and would like to get a jump on that today. Hopefully I can find my ball of twine to start tying up all my books from school because I am not going out to any stores today no matter what might be needed.
Hope everyone has a great day.....

I slept into 11am because I don't head into wor****il 1pm. I'm hoping the pharmacy isn't too busy. I swear that people were buying pills to stuff their turkeys! Everyone came out of the woodwork to get their prescriptions!
Yesterday was fun. I was able to eat things I haven't been able to eat in the past 2 years since my band has no fluid in it. I was so nervous when I got on the scale this morning. Only gained a pound from yesterday's gluttony! I can deal with that. I'll just have to do more activity to burn it back off lol.
Hope that every one that ventures out to shop is safe!
Diane
Our thanksgiving dinner was very nice. Two of my nephews were here and one had his little boy along. Last night we settled in and watched White Christmas to kick off the holiday season.
The worst part of this weekend was telling my best friend that we will be moving to Florida in approx 3 years. We both cried. Grown women - but we've been friends for 30 years so we're closer than a lot of family I know.
Well I better get up and moving - this house isn't magically going to decorate itself.
