blood test results and reflux??

SO, I got the results of the bloodwork I had done to determine why I had the dizzy spells and  fainting episode.  Everything looks good for the most part.  My iron is actually a bit high, but I think I may have taken my vitamin before I went to the lab..oops..  My B12 is at the high end of normal.  After looking at it, checking webMD and asking Pam, I found that my BUN/Creatinine ratio is high and it seems that it was just dehydration.. since that was suspected, I have been upping my water, drinking Powerade and trying to cut out caffeine as much as possible and have been feeling much better.  So, I'll just be sure to keep that up... unless I hear different from the dr. when they get the results.

RE: Reflux.. is it possible to get acid reflux after RNY? I didn't think it was, but for the past 2 days, I have felt like I have it.  I have that yucky burning sensation/nasty taste in my throat.  I took an antacid tonight, but it hasn't gone away yet.       Why do these things happen on a weekend?  Should I call dr right away or wait til Monday or do I not need to??

Lisa,
It is possible to have acid reflux after WLS and often it is very common to develop this the further out you are from surgery. I can no longer eat tomato based items and being Indian can no longer eat very spicy foods. What you have just described sounds like classic acid reflux. Talk to a GI doc before it becomes an issues. Just so you know my BUN was 80 when I was admitted and my creatinine was 1.8 up until a couple of days ago. I was completely dehydrated and was basically dragging my ass around and here my labs were so off the ER doc told me he did not know why I did not come in sooner. In other words I put everyone else first as usual. Lisa the one thing I walked away from this whole hospital stay is I will never put myself last. I have to be well in order to take care of my family. Take care of yourself you are a single mom. Siehara needs you. Hugs....

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Thanks for your input Shilpa.  I do try to take care of myself, but apparently this is one area that I have slacked on.  My BUN is only 16 (7-25), but the creatinine is .52 (.58-1.06 low)  ratio is 31 on a scale of 6-22.

I did have reflux preop and this definitely feels the same.  I will probably just wait until Monday to call my PCP (if they are open for the holiday).  They got the results of the bloodwork, as well as the surgeon, so I will talk to them about the ratio, as well.

Hope you are getting some relief and you can get home soon.
