Yesterday... good day.. lots of learning
I forgot to post my food plan yesterday.... it was a good plan day....stayed on track and even fined tuned a few things after my visit with my new doctor -- an internist Dr. Michael Rothkpf of Morristown's Metabolic Medicine and Weight Control Center.
We reviewed my latest bloodwork -- which, under his direction, included iron. I have low iron and started an iron supplement last night. We talked alot about how the body works (burning sugar vs burning fat), insulin resistance, thyroid functions and how I can get things back on track. My head is still spinning from all the new info I learned!!! He's worked with many WLS patients in NJ.
So, I had more tests this morning.... my metabolism is "NORMAL', fat to muscle ratio is high (we knew that one), quantity of muscle mass is 'HIGH'....Next step is to have add'l bloodwork to check on how much insulin my body makes and some more details on thyroid function. Once we have this data, we'll fine tune the action plan.
Action plan...nothing new....high protein low/no carb, low fat. decaf fluids 64 oz per day and exercise. Dr. and I spoke at great lenths about motivation.... he truly believes exercise is such a key factor in my journey that he wants me to think of it as a medicine.... in fact, he even wrote a prescription for daily cardio!!!!
I had a 100cal portion of almonds as my snack in the afternoon.. For dinner I had cottage cheese and 1/2 strawberries.
Ok, time for my walk.....
Sounds like you had an excellent visit with your doctor, and that he is cognizant of the needs of WLS patients. That helps tremendously. Keep up the good work.
