OT Book Question--ACIM

This summer I read Marianne Williamson's book Return to Love which was an amazing amazing amazing book! She references (well actually her book is basically reflections on) another book called A Course In Miracles.  I really really want to read that one. Funds are a lil tight right now so I wanted to see if anyone had it and was willing to lend it to me first so I don't have to buy it.  Does anyone have a copy of A Course In Miracles that they would be willing to share?

Thanks!
Much luv!

Laura, I love Mariannes writings! When I lived in Michigan, she led a Unity congregation near Detroit and I drove an hour many Sundays to hear her speak.

A Course in Miracles is a book of meditations/lessons. It is not a book you just sit down and read...it is a book you study from. I actually had a copy years back but gave it away....but inhale seen copies at book sales so please scope out any that may be in your area this fall if a copy doesn't turn up for you soon!

Lynn-
Omg how awesome is that ! I would love to hear her speak! Her book really struck a chord with me this summer!  I want to read her other book too Illuminata.

As for A Course in Miracles I have heard people *****ad it referred to as "students" of ACIM and that you do work from it...its weird I never heard of it until this summer now I hear it mentioned alot so I am taking that as a sign I should probablly read/work with it.  I checked with my library and there is a waiting list for it.  Soo I think I may look on eBay and Amazon see if I can get a cheap gently used copy...I will keep an eye out for book sales...I also posted a wanted ad for it on Phillyfreecycle and Craigs List so I am hoping when the time is right it falls into my hands!

Thank you though for the advice!!! I just loved Return to Love so much and wow you actually got to hear Marianne Williamson speak...amazing!!! <3

Much luv!

I really enjoyed A Return to Love and also more recently read her book on midlife...forget the title just now. She is a gifted writer for sure. Her background is fascinating...raised in a Jewish home, was very deeply addicted to drugs for a time, and came through that period. She is raising a daughter as a single mom. I believe she is raising her daughter in the Jewish faith.

What I love is her way of weaving the core elements of spiritual thought in a way that crosses typical lines of theology and doctrine...I am pretty conservative in spiritual matters, but her words resonate with me greatly. But....in my own life, I decided that I needed to study the Bible more rigorously before approaching ACIM. And ACIM was written by 2 doctors in NY, I think. That was its geatest limitation in my view, as a spiritual text. But that's just me.

She does have a most amazing story doesn't she? My step-mom had her book on mid-life while I was in Florida...she reads it and makes all these notes with post its! I did the same thing with Return to Love...I just wrote down all the things that resonated with me.  I am catholic and I love how she is able to weave the spirtiuality to a place that connects to my heart and rings true...it doesn't matter what one's faith is...the book spoke of the universal truths found in most religions...the way she is able to transcend religious boundaries in her writing is amazing...can you tell I was a bit blown away by her and her writing??? LOL

I think its just because I read the book at the exact time in my life when I needed to read it and that is why it touched me so deeply...now I want to branch out and explore ACIM and the other books...it just feels like the time in my life that I should be doing this...

As for ACIM I def want to read it and see if it rings true with me on any level...we shall see!!

Much luv!

There are study groups all over the country, I'm sure you can find one near you.  Most are associated with Unity churches.  I know of several in the Lehigh Valley/Western NJ area.  Someone in the group would be willing to share a copy of the book with you, I'm sure.  Or you could find an inexpensive copy on half.com.

Best of luck to you, I find ACIM so helpful in how I perceive this world!

Peace,

Deb
