***Summer Sunday Roll Call***

Good Morning PA,
What a productive day I had on Saturday.  I overslept and missed the water aerobics class, and got to Barix a little late, but was greeted with warm hugs from Lisa and Beth.  What a good meeting...I needed the reminders of the little things to get back on track consistently.  I had to leave early, because my sciatica was really bothering me.  After the meeting I hit Giant and got some beef on sale...I need the iron, and some blueberries, which I eat like candy.  Then, I hit the gym for some water walking and the hot tub.  In between all of these activities I cleaned and cleaned, like scrubbing my kitchen floor, and painted my bathroom door ( I dyed my hair a few weeks ago, and dripped a ton of dye on the white door.)  I have been cleaning all evening, trying to get a handle on the clutter, which seems to grow in powers of 10.

Sunday.....AA meeting in the morning, and then my son and his wife, who drove down from New York Saturday, are picking me up to go to the Phillies game.  Halladay is pitching...and I am psyched.  I might have to get up and walk around some, because sitting in one place hurts.  I am thrilled, because my son and I text a lot during the games, because he is working nights and I update him on the games.

I hope everyone has a blessed and safe Sunday....make good choices.

Huggles,
Trish

Morning!

I'm attempting to finish my shift at the heart.  It's been easy...but I'm getting tiiiiiiiired.  As I mentioned in my lat saturday post, I've been having a LOT of trouble staying on any sort of sleep assemblance schedule.  I'm exhausted when working and when I get home am wide awake and have trouble sleeping so it goes back and forth back and forth.

Anyway - gym this am for spin.

Then home, packing up food for work.  I'm at LVH tonight...it'll be a miracle if I don't screw up my schedule this week...my start and end times and facilities are all over the place.  I had to change my schedule for a fun filled weekend this coming weekend.....sigh.  It'll be worth it though!

Have a fabulous day!

A pharmacist friend of mine works nights in a hospital and he takes Provigil for shift sleep disorder.. and he said it has made a huge difference in his quality of life - I'm not a fan of drugs if not needed, but if you are not alert and awake, it can be dangerous.. not that I need to tell the nurse that!

Yea, you are right.  I do alright when I'm physically taking care of patients...it's when I have down time I feel like I might fall over.  This sleep thing is really getting to me.  And it's not just nights...when I've recently had days off I'm not sleeping well at night either....I'm just plain not sleeping...at night...during the day....

I'm not a fan of meds either.  I've tried the melatonin and other natural stuff and that's not helping....benadryl works for about 3-4 hours...but I can sleep 2-4  hours on my own so really, there's no difference.

I was on a sleep med late last year/early this year and then decided to go off of it because I was doing ok.  I think it's time I talk to my primary and get back on it at least until I even out again.

Thanks for the info...actually hadn't heard of provigil for sleep disorder and hadn't known of the dx of shift sleep disorder...which actually exists btw (as if you didn't know it)  It seems a little weird...it sounds more like a stimulant than anything and I'm wondering if it just burns you out while you're awake so you sleep more soundly?  I'm  hesitant in all actuality - but I will run the option by my PMD and see what he thinks, too.  Thanks!

They don't sample provigil, but they do sample nuvigil - http://www.nuvigil.com/  which is the next generation of it.

My mother was on it for a while and did not have any side effects, I actually think that it was the reason that we were able to finally get her out of bed and in to therapy and finally got her home - it is not on her formulary and is $550 / mo out of pocket, so she isn't on it now (we just couldn't afford it) - I tried everything to try to get it by other means - but struck out..

Hi all,

Boy does that sound like me when I worked nights, sleepy all night then wide awake during the day.

Since I didn't get the job, I have been applying for jobs like crazy.  In the meantime, I have a meeting with my OVR councelor and Exp. Works to see about getting me into the CNA class at the hospital.  The hard part will be  getting them to accept me with some limitations.  Good old ADA.  I hope that works for me.

Today, a friend of mine is coming over to show me sone songs on a lap dulcimer.  I have to see if my hand will let me play it.

Enough for now.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Good morning, PA!

Trish, how great you are going to see Halladay pitch today!  We never miss a game (on TV).  Last night was a little disappointing.

Pam, I don't know how you keep the schedule you do, let alone the work you do.  I consider anyone working in the medical field a very special person, I know I could never do it.  Hope you can get some much needed rest today!

Today is church in the morning, a board meeting at church after that, grocery shopping and one last stop in the store for some last minute things to do before the inspection this week.  Then try to get some sleep tonight before SURGERY tomorrow!!  They are going to call me this afternoon and tell me what time.  I am a little nervous but mostly excited, I know I have a great surgeon and I am ready for this re-birth.

THANKS, you guys, for being there!  I am so glad I started coming here.

Peace,
Deb

Hi Deb,
I did not worry too much about sleep the day before, because I figured I would be sleeping during surgery...hehe.  Praying for a good surgery and quick recovery.  Let us know how you make out when you get home.

Hugs,
Trish
