I'M HOME. ALL I WANT TO DO IS REST BUT CAN'T
That is gas pain, believe it or not! Gas in the abdomen from surgery most frequently travels up the left side of the chest/back because it's the path of "least resistence" - not to many organs etc.
WALK WALK WALK, stretch, move around, whatever! Ask if you can take the gas x strips or whatever...they will help too...but keep moving. It'll get better!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

I agree with Pam and Eric that it's most likely gas. Walking will help. My surgeon said gentle stretching will help--- twisting from side to side at the waist; bending back and forth; bending from side to side. All gentle motions that should help move the gas along. You'll start to feel better each day!!!
Pretty sure you can also use those Gas-X strips that dissolve on your tongue. For me a hot shower letting the water run down that shoulder, a heating pad on the area, and sucker someone into a massage all help. Also when you are sitting raise the arm above your head, rolling your shoulder and hopefully it passes pretty quickly for you.
Welcome home Cyd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly what everyone else said.
The only comfort I found when I first got home and wanted to sleep was having bed wedge pillows. We got them prior to Gene's plastic surgery, I used them for maybe 3 weeks or so, was the only way I could sleep at night. They were/are one of the best inventments we have ever made!!!!!
Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. take you pain meds to stay ahead of the pain......
WELCOME TO THE BENCH!!!!!
