Thank you all so much!  Great suggestions.  I intend to become a really active member of this Board... there's definite power in numbers.  And thank you for reminding me to remove the word "cheating" from my vocabulary.  I have to be extra gentle with myself, especially now!

How about any stuff specifically for the hospital?  I've read baby wipes, neutrogena face wipes (hope I don't get the two confused), lip balm... anything else?  I really appreciate having the benefit of everyone's experiences!

Welcome Kelly and congrats on your upcoming surgery.  You got great suggestions regarding protein, etc.  As for the hospital, a pillow for use there and to hold against your stomach on the drive home, comfortable slip on shoes for walking around, i took some books and magazines but didn't do much with those. Basically lip balm and lotion were life savers.

hey again, I don't know anything about the hospital you will be using but at the barix clinic we were encouraged to bring a cell phone and charger, and or a lap top computer. sturdy shoes for walking ( they made me get up every 2 to 4 hours to walk) you might want your favorite shampoo and conditioner because what they gave me was horrible. you also might like a TV guide. maybe some note paper and pen to take notes.you also need a robe or cover up to walk the halls.while you are getting ready, you might think about joining a gym. there are so many you could ask to look around each one and ask what they offer and if they have any sign up offers.and clean out you kitchen of any high fat and sugar foods that you won't want around to tempt you later.
