Tuesday Exercise
Who's moving today??
My plan is the 1 hour pilates class tonight. Depending on how I feel after work and how hot it is outside, I may take a walk. First Strides starts tomorrow, so I need to get back into walk/jogging for that. I know they request that you add at least 2 extra days to the program when you are not actually with the group.
If you are not familiar with First Strides, it is like a formal couch to 5K interval training session. I did it before surgery, but injured my back and was too much of a wuss to try to continue it. Not this time!! I would love to be able to jog at least part of the 5K. Here is a link for the program. www.firststrides.com/ This seems to only have locations close to me, but I would think there are others. I am doing the one in Allentown on Wednesdays, though I am thinking I may try to switch to Tuesday because I really don't want to miss that yoga class I've been doing and they interfere with each other.

Had a great workout this morning - did 40 minutes on the treadmill with the incline cranked way up, then followed it up with some weights and stretching. I feel all tight and tingly now ;-). Yay!
I also met my requirements (150 visits) for my $150 reimbursement of gym fees (BIG yay), so need to submit the request for that money. I plan to use it for personal training sessions (yep, giving it BACK to the gym - haha) to build the momentum for the half-marathon training and to get more upper body toning "organization" around my workout.

Hey Lisa,
I checked out the link last week when you mentioned it. It looks like a neat program. Is your goal to job part of the 5K tomorrow or is that your overall goal? I'm not sure I understand from your post.
I ran 3 miles at the park during lunch. It was hot, hard, and my knees are just killing me. It's disheartning. Tonight I'll be mowing my yard which is a half acre....no tractor for this woman.

My intention tonight with First Strides is to see how hot it is and how I feel. I am able to do a little bit of jogging. They don't have us doing the entire 5K route right away. It is definite interval and endurance training all in one.
If I remember correctly, they have us do a certain amount of time each time and the amount of fast time compared to slow time increases each practice.
I should get all the info tonight, so I'll post more on it when I get back.

I met with my trainer...
Before that I did my warm up on the treadmill...although this time I spent 5 straight mins jogging at 4.0mph @ 3.5% incline. I've NEVER jogged for 5 mins straight.
The weight work out was intense with him, but felt great!
