Surgeons at Geisinger in Danville and Wilkes-Barre

Hi there, has anyone had their RNY at Geisinger in Danville or Wilkes-Barre PA? And what was your experience? I am trying to find out if there was any major problems with Geisinger  in Wilkes-Barre. Wikes-Barre is closer to where I live and I would perfer there but I want to go to the best surgeon as possible and I have heard great things about Geisinger in Danville. Anything helps, Thanks!

My surgeon practices in Peckville and I can't say enough good things about him - www.cutweight.org

I can't say much about the Geisinger docs as I had a DS w/Dr. Peters and the DS is not performed at Geisinger.

Hi Happycatbert, thank you very much for your response. I was thinking Geisinger because they have a great reputation and also my family doc recommended them. Do you live around Peckville? Peckville is actually almost in my back yard it's that close. If you live around the Valley View area maybe we could meet up and talk - I'd like to know why you chose Pecville and the DS. I am a Geisinger RNY'er.  I loved my surgeon, Dr. Jon Gabrielson.  He explains everthing and is very talented.  Geisinger in Danville is a Center of Excellence and their GI Nutrition/Bariatrics is top notch.  I highly recommend Dr.Gabrielson.  Also, Lois (Lois G)& Debbie (RoseyNo) are Geisinger RNY'ers.  I have heard good things about Dr. Petrick there also.  Any other questions?

Hi Sara E., thanks for the reply. You pretty confirmed what I thought about Geisinger. Maybe I will contact the other Geisinger RNY'ers you suggested to see what they thought. How long did it take you to take the education classes? They told me 6-9 months, but I hope it's not 9. How long was the wait to get the RNY after you were all confirmed or do they get pretty booked up. Did you lose all of your required weight loss for the program, I'm afraid I won't lose the exact amount they are asking of me and they will kick me out and not let me have the surgery.
