Well first an appology - I know I haven't been around as much since Mia was born. I think about you guys all the time! Feel free to call/text (610-462-1204)or e-mail if you need anything, I am always checking those.

Amelia is a pure joy. She is a happy baby and is growing like a weed. We are finally getting some real smiles out of her and she is much more responsive. I can't believe that she is 6 weeks old already. That also means my maternity leave is 1/2 over which makes me very sad - but ce la vis. As of our last Dr appt 2 weeks ago she was up to 10 pounds. I have my 6 week follow up tomorrow.

I can't wait for those of you coming to cooking class to meet her! You have all been so wonderful through everything over the last year and a half (and well the 3 1/2 years since my surgery).

As for the wow. I am 8 pounds BELOW my pre-pregnancy weight! YAY!! Food has been an issue for me the last week - I want to eat everything in sight (PMS I think) but I Am getting back on track of eating the right things and cutting out the carbs.

On to the good stuff. Here's a picture of Mia yesterday with my Dad. This is the first picture I have of her truly smiling!!

Liz,
OMG she is getting so BIG and yes time does fly and we understand how busy life can get after having a baby. I have news for you honey you will be busy for the rest of your life. LOL I think your daddy is one handsome guy and the picture is frame worthy! I am so happy that you are below your pre-pregnancy weight they say the sooner you get rid of baby weight that better it is. Are you nursing Mia? I am only asking because they will also help with your weight loss. Miss you and I hope you have somebody to watch Mia when it's time to get back to work.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

THanks Shilpa :)

I nursed for about a week, it wasn't working out for us so we switched to formula. She is doing great with it. I had lost a total of 38 pounds in 13 days after delivering her. I knew I would rebound a bit as most of it was probably from the volume of blood lost etc.

My Mom, Aunt and Grandmother are going to watch her when I go back to work. Hopefully we don't have to address daycare for a while. I am OK with it if we have to but would like her to be 6 months old if possible.

Hope to see you soon!

Liz,
I totally understand about nursing. Heck I was guilted into nursing both my kids for the first 3 months of their life by my mom of all people. I had a calender that I was making down the days until it was end of 3 months. LOL Mia is going to be just fine on formula it does not mean you love her any less. I heard about your blood loss and I just got a note from my doctor telling me I have mild anemia not related to iron deficiency. I seem to recall you telling somebody that total cereal is great for iron build up I think I will give it a try.

I wanted to tell you that I would not put my newborn in day care until they were at least a little older and you are one lucky girl having your immediate family help out with her.  I am sorry but your cooking class falls on the day that I have something already planned. BUT I miss you and hope to catch up one of these day but do me a favor and give Mia a big wet kiss from me. Will ya?

I really wanted to do it but she wouldn't latch right which made it so painful I just cried everytime I had to nurse her - formula was best for both of us. SHe is a little chunk so it must be doing well by her! lol

Total is great for building iron - my H&H went from 6.8 to 9.4 in a few weeks of eating it. It tastes pretty good too. They told me to make sure you drink the milk too though because some of the vitamins "leak" into it.

LOL sure will give her kisses for you!

I would have been totally a wreck to have had the surgery and then have gotten pregnant - I am so proud of you!  You are an amazing woman and I can't wait to see you in action as a mom next week.  I NEVER lost any of my baby weight - just kept racking on the pounds, so be VERy proud of the work that you have done!

As for the nursing thing, I LOVED it - BUT....it just worked for me - I went into each one with the attitude that I will give it a try - and if it works, GREAT - if not, well, my mom fed me formula and I have NO medical issues - well, minus the weight thing, and I am PRETTY sure - looking at my mom's side of the family, it had NOTHING to do with the formula thing!

I truly beleive it doing what works best for your family, from feeding to sleeping to enjoying your time together.  If it works for you, Chris and Mia - then it is what it is!

Congrats on working so hard to getting yourself back to a healthy place - and the PMS wanting to eat everything in sight just sucks!  Can't wait to see you and get my hands on that little SMILING face!

Glad you are checking in.. you don't need to apologize at all.  We know you are busy with your precious little girl.

Sounds like everyone is doing fabulous!  Amelia looks a lot like Chris in this pic and your dad is such the proud grandpa.

I can't wait to see how much she has grown when I get there on the 17th!!
