Wish me well - MRI on the knee
Yesterday I saw my PCP for a routine check up and I mentioned the problem I've had with my knee (self diagnosed as an overuse injury, and maybe a hyperextension).
But...the truth is, it happened almost a month ago and is still a problem. I keep it braced most of the time. I take Tylenol daily. I use Bio Freeze. My massage therapist has worked on it. I've rested it and kept it elevated when I can. I've used heat on it. I've knocked my exercise schedule way back. I have an occasional day when it feels okay, but the vast majority of the time I have a dull ache (just about a 1 or 2 on the pain scale, but still there) - an awareness of the joint that just isn't quite right, you know?
The dr. ordered an x ray yesterday, and I got a call today that he wants me to go for an MRI on it tomorrow. Wish me luck. At least I don't have to go all the way into the tube to have my knee done!

I had to go all the way in the tube to have my hip done. So far in that my head stuck out the other end. Good thing because I found I was more than a little claustrophobic. Good luck with the MRI!

Actually glad to hear your PCP is being pro-active on the knee - don't let it go - if there is damage it could possibly be fixed with physical therapy or orthoscopic surgery - you sure can't blame it on your weight now! And it sounds like you're already babying it and cutting back on activities because of it - not good - that tells me it hurts more than you're letting on or acknowledging. I actually had an open MRI or my knee so if you go into a regular one I'm not sure how far they shove you in there. Wishing you all the best!!
