Work out wow(s)
Ok...so as I mentioned in the work out post...a girl from work was meeting me at the gym today. I had a BUNCH of insecurities come up I hadn't anticipated. I realized I liked working out at the gym where I didn' treally "know" anybody...because the animosity helped me...it was "these people don't know me, I don't have to prove to them anything" type of deal. So when she said she wanted to come...I was a little taken a back. What if I couldn't keep up etc? What would she think of my ability? Would she "out show" me in my own class? I decided that, "F" it, it didn't matter, the work out was for me, not her, and just go and do what I normally do. And, BTW...it was TOTALLY cool to have her there and we had a FABULOUS time. Cool beans!
But, the BIG BIG wow of the day...it was so weird. We were about 1/2 way through the class. I was up at a pretty high resistence already, and half way through a 5 min drill. At about this point she said "ok, my advanced people, give me some more resistence..." I chose NOT to to up my resistence. A) I no where NEAR consider myself advanced B) I was working pretty hard already, and was concerned I wouldn't be able to finish otherwise (now...not to say that if it did get waaaay to hard I couldn't turn the lever down...)
So about a second later she says specifically "PAM...I said advanced put more on...put that lever UP!" I can honestly say....I was TOTALLY taken a back...I mean, first of all, she thinks I'm "advanced"...second of all...she called me by name....third of all...I finished the damn drill with the resistence raised. Ok, ok, so I felt like I might die by the end of it...but in a FANTASTIC way. It was just...so totally wild and weird...and AWESOME!!! Am I proud of myself? Yes...and you know what...that's a wow in and of itself...giving myself credit where credit is due.
Oh - and my friend...loved loved LOVED the class and will probably be coming back with me...nice!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

It's those stinking little demons that won't leave our heads and keep telling us 'no, don't try it - you'll fail!' - we need to let the good ones take over with the whole 'I think I can' attitude and go for it!!
Congrats on a fantastic work-out session!! Your instructor is very observant in knowing that you could push yourself harder then you thought you could - good for her, and great for you for going for it!!

I always knew you were advanced. Now you know it too!
congratulations on giving yourself the pat on the back that you so deserve!
It's such a shame that we always assume better of OTHERS than of OURSELVES, isn't it? As i said elsewhere, I do the same exact thing. Got myself all freaked out when Kevin (my nephew) was visiting and took me up on the guest pass offer at the gym... turns out, we both had a rocking workout, I didn't feel like a dork, and we ended up pushing each other in a good way. He's the one who somehow roped me into (i mean "inspired me") the Disney half-marathon. :-)
Kudos, kid!
