Fourth of July WOWS!! .. kinda long, but you know me!
SO, I've been trying to write this all day, but just never got around to finishing it.
Yesterday, Siehara and I met Bron's sister in law at her parent's house on Lake Wynonah (the guys had to work til 5 and she invited Siehara and I to come up early in the day). When we got there, we decided that we would eat lunch first before going down to the lake. I brought a veggie tray with garlic dip. She had boneless chicken breasts to put on the grill. She made the effort to let me know that she was putting BBQ sauce on and did I want it on mine. I decided to have mine plain and was so appreciative of her asking before putting it on my piece. While we were talking she said that her mom was at the grocery store picking up some other things for lunch and dinner, including some sort of sugar free dessert so we could all partake in it. Again, I thanked her for thinking of me and she just acted like it was no big deal. WOW ! How nice!!
So, after lunch, we go down the steps and the hill to their dock on the lake. At first, we just kind of hung out and swam. Karen (Bron's sis-in-law) and her brother got the boat ready to take out. This was Siehara's first time in a boat like this and only my second. I think I was Siehara's age when I was on one the last time. It was a 7 passenger boat. So, Karen is driving the boat and her brother gets on a tube that is tied to the boat. Karen takes off slowly to get out where the boats are allowed and to get him acclimated to the tube and the water and such. Next thing I know, she is speeding along and he is hanging onto this tube as he is getting bounced all over the place and flying across the water. He finally fell off after a very long, successful ride. Now, it's time for someone else to go.
I was DYING to try this! I NEVER NEVER NEVER would have felt the slightest bit comfortable doing this before. This time I didn't even hesitate. There was no question of whether the life jacket would fit, no question of how I was going to climb off the boat onto the tube, no question about looking like a beached whale on the tube, no question at all. I got on the tube and she promised to go slow until I was comfortable. She started out slowly and it was really cool. They kept checking on me and I was doing well, so she picked up the speed. I know I hit air a few times and was getting banged all over the place. I held on and was NOT thrown off at all! It was so freakin' awesome!!!!!! When I was done, I was able to get back up on the boat with no issue whatsoever. We tried to get Siehara to get on, even telling her that she would go very slowly for her and offering to ride with her. Karen's brother offered to ride with her, too, but she was too scared. So, Karen's son got on with her brother and they went out. He was scared at first, but by the end he was ready to go again!

So, after this we go back to swim at the dock again. We were just having a ton of fun on the floaties and all kinds of stuff. We had so much fun. I jumped in the water off the back of the boat and off the dock. Siehara was having a blast too. Eventually, we were all wiped and it was time to go back UP to the house. Well, coming down, it seemed like it would be difficult to get back up and I wasn't even considering the tiredness factor from swimming. We had to hike up the hill just to get to the stairs. Keep in mind that we all had flip flops on.. duh...we were going swimming. I was carrying a hand held cooler and my bag with our towels in it. I made it up the hill, slowly but surely. Got to the 2 flights of stairs and was able to make it up. Yes, I was out of breath at the top, but I went up them without stopping. I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't out of breath. BUT, I can just imagine what would have happened pre WLS. I probably could not have made it DOWN the hill without difficulty, let alone back up.
By this time, it was dinner time and the guys came from work. We were able to show them all the pics and everything. Bron didn't believe I went on the tube because I was still smiling.. LOL.. he also checked to see if I got wet. He didn't realize it had been awhile since we had been on the boat, plus we had been swimming and just hanging around having fun while he was working.. HA HA! I had a bunless burger for dinner with some tortilla chips and salsa and more veggies. My food day was great!! I drank lots of water and hardly ate anything. I wasn't hungry!
When it started to get dark, we left mom's house and went back to their place. Karen lit up the grill and they roasted marshmallows for smores. I tasted a tiny little corner of one of Siehara's marshmallows and was satisfied just to get the taste. We lit sparklers and watched the fireworks. It was actually really nice to celebrate the holiday with people who know how to have fun and enjoy themselves. Watching the fireworks with Bron's arms around me was quite nice, too. Siehara was hanging out on the step watching them.
We got home around midnight, but it was soooo worth it. It was a fantastic day with nice gestures, WOWs and FUN!

Oh honey - I am soooo happy for you! I can totally hear the excitement and the energy in your voice! It is totally amazing when others think of our needs and only want to do what is best for us. So thoughtful of his SIL to make sure there was stuff for you! :) I think they like you! :) Keep it up and keep on sharing! Love you! :)
Lisa,
So glad that you had an awesome time at Bron's SIL's mother's house (that's a mouthful). I know what you are saying. I went on the beach at Cape May for the first time in 15 years on Sunday and I put on my bathing suit. It was so weird - I almost felt naked but I got so many compliments about how I looked. The WOWS are just great. You have worked hard - so savor each one of them. Happy that Siehera had a good time also. Looking forward to seeing both of you at Liz's on the 17th. Take care.
