Ok I now realize that I can't do this by myself.  I really need a workout buddy and friend, everyone I try to recruit doesn't hang in so I fall off the wagon as well. I really need the support and someone who knows what its like to have this surgery. I live in Harrisburg so if  you live near and  your yo-yoing like I am right now then post me a message. I know with some team work we can get healthy together.

I'm in Lancaster so probably not practical to be workout buddies, but I wondered if you have joined a gym or are trying to work out on your own.

Have you considered working with a trainer? It is a great way to jump start the whole thing...challenge you to new heights and also makes you accountable.

Have you found a form of exercise you really LIKE doing? For me, it is probably water aerobics. So many people walk for exercise, but I know I can talk myself out of walking 100 times a day.

I have considered a trainer but after awhile it gets expensive and I need that extra motivation.

You're right - a trainer consistently costs $$$ - but here are a few thoughts for what it's worth:

Working out at a gym can be more motivating that working out at home or walking by yourself.

Having a couple of trainer sessions can be valuable in showing  you what you CAN do and how to work each area of the body. Mine sketched out a schedule of routines for 3x per week, 4x per week, and 5x per week at the gym.

I find that I push myself harder in classes than I ever would on my own. Find a good instructor who keeps the energy going! Even if it's hard at first...what a great feeling when it gets easier!

You may meet that workout buddy at the gym! Or...ask if a trainer does buddy sessions at a reduced price (mine does!)

And if the motivation wanes...just do SOMETHING. Walk. Do a video. Do some yoga. Simple stretches. Speed walk around the mall a couple of times. Clean the house. Dance.

You can do this!

I'm another one who wouldn't be a practical work out buddy - but I can offer you that we do have a daily exercise thread here at least on M-F...and although it's not as motivational as having someone physically working out with you...but try to make it appoint to post on that thread every day.....keep yourself accountable

It's definately hard to do - I just am getting back into the gym thing after slacking off for quite some time...so I definately understand...
