Another great bit of history!  Thanks so much.

In addition to the wonderful places there, you could also drive a short distance outside of Philadelphia, and see Valley Forge, where Washington wintered with his troops during the Revolutionary War, and go east on the Turnpike from there, to Washington's Crossing Park, and see where he crossed the Delaware on Christmas.  From there, you could head over the Trenton, NJ, to see the Barracks where the battle took place the day after Christmas.  There is also William Penn's House, at Pennsbury Manor, near Tullytown, PA, right on the Delaware River.  Penn founded PA, and laid out the city of Philadelphia.  His statue is atop City Hall in Philadelphia.  Valley Forge and Washington's Crossing are great places for a picnic, providing the weather is suitable.

Another site near Washington's Crossing, is New Hope, PA, where there are artsy type shops and a theater.  Great place to walk, and people watch.

There is also Citizens Bank Park where you could take in a Phillies game, if they are in town.

I live near most of these places.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Trish.  I'm actually getting excited about this trip.  I have heard of Valley Forge so I think it's another must.
BTW - those children are adorable.  My son in law is a big football fan - he like the Buffalo Bills - are they wearing blue?

Lorraine,
Thank you for the kind words about my grandchildren.  They are wearing Eagles green as I live outside of Philadelphia, and my daughter lives in Michigan now, so I spoil the kids with Eagles and Phillies gear.

I am sure you will have a wonderful time in our area.  I forgot to mention, in Philadelphia there is a science museum called The Franklin Institute.  It is fascinating and they have a planetarium and an IMAX theater.

Also, if you are into art, near the Art Museum is the Rodin Museum.

God bless.

Trish, my hubby has been reading Revolutionary War history like crazy this past year. We've been to Valley Forge but I may need to take him on a little mystery trip to the Trenton barracks!
