Introducing....
OK I put this in the roll call in the middle of the night, but will try to be more coherent about it in the light of day!
And thank you for all the warm wishes in roll call this morning!
Baby North James Paxton was born at 11:39 p.m. on June 24. He weighed 9 lbs. 7 oz. and was 21 1/2 inches long.
North will come home to is sisters Ava May, age 4, and Violet Jane, age 3.
Sarah went to the doctor yesterday afternoon. Her due date (and their wedding anniversary) is today. The doctor recommended that she go in to the hospital, since she had dilated to 5, and since the hospital is a good distance from where they live. (Yes, there are closer hospitals, but between insurance, where her dr. practices, etc, it's an hour away.) He called and the Labor & Delivery nurse said it would be best if she arrived about 8 p.m. - they were having a busy afternoon!
I arranged for the "other grandma" to take the girls, scurried home for her suitcase, and back to the hospital.
From the time I got back to the hospital, it was only a bit over 2 1/2 hours till delivery. She was determined to have a natural childbirth, and was attended by her doctor, husband Tyler, and a doula who coached her through. I was able to be there for the entire process and feel so very privileged to share in this part of my daughter's life. Her labor was gentle as she stood and rocked through contractions, or sat on a birthing ball. When things got more intense, the doctor wanted to move quickly to assure no distress to the baby.
He was born in 4 pushes. What a miracle to see a life enter the world!
They are doing well - not sure when Sarah will be home but I want to straighten the house and have it really nice for her so have to jump into the game, then drive up for a quick visit and photo op!
