The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and back to the Good

The good:  always start and end on a good note.  I am being offered another position within my company which will relieve a great deal of unnecessary stress and will allow me to grow my knowledge.    Most likely a raise and less stress from my job.

The Bad:  My mother got a diagnosis of Breast cancer today.  We don't have a lot of details but will know more on monday when we see the doctor.  I am trying not to panic to much about it till I hear the facts and then we will see what is what.

The ugly:  OH I SO WANT CHOCOLATE EVERYTHING.  I know I cannot and I know I will be in pain if I overeat and etc... This thing with my mom has my emotions running high and I want to find comfort in my foood.... but

The Good:  I have this as an outlet instead of eating.  Instead I am typing this out and drinking my SF Iced coffee.  Thinking about all of you and your support on this board.  These are the good things in my life and I will continue to focus and lean on these resources.  All I need is the comfort of my new friends not the comfort of food.

YAY for the new position!

Breast cancer isn't necessarily as scary as it used to be - I hope that the type that she has is totally treatable! My Grandmother is a survivor

Chocolate - can't help you there, I love my chocolate lol.

Congrats on the new job although timing may not be the greatest with your mom in your mind but if it means less stress in the long run then go for it.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom - lock yourself in the bathroom or shower and have a good cry. Then pull yourself together and think positive thoughts that yur mom caught it early and everything will be okay. I am sending many many prayers your way.

Good choice on the iced coffee - I love it now (hated it pre-wls) and I'm very partial to sugar free vanilla iced coffee.

Big hugs coming hour way - I wish no one had to go thru this.

Sandra, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, will hope good things for her.   As for the chocolate, I'm the queen of that; my Mom had health issues the last 1.5 years and it was very easy to be comforted but getting that weight back off ANOTHER time is nearly impossible with a lowered metabolism from WLS so don't even think of going there!  Take advice from my bad experience.   You need to seriously increase your protein intake in times of stress.   The benefits are two-fold.  1) STRESS eats up proteins and B-vites so you need more just to stay even and 2) extra, extra protein will kill those cravings for carbs/chocolate/bad foods.   Now, more than even, PROTEIN is the key.   If your daily is 75, make it 100-125.

Sandra,

Am so proud of you, it sounded like you knocked their socks off and they had to have you - am so glad you got the job and am even more happy that it will be a better opportunity for you stress wise!

Am sorry to hear about your moms diagnosis, but I am sure that the apple didn't fall far from the tree and your strength is inherited and she will be added to the long list of survivors.

Chocolate protein powder, chocolate protein bars I like pure protein - I even put some peanut butter on them here and there, sugar free chocolate pudding - these are all allowed :)  - Make your chocolate craving work FOR you, not against you!

We love you and are here for you - anytime, anything

Sandra,

I am sorry to hear about your Mom's diagnosis.  She and you are in my prayers!  As for the chocolate craving, the Atkins Double Chocolate Caramel Crunch bars totally take care of that craving for me and they have 10 grams of protein.

Congratulations on the job!

I am so sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis.  It seems that everyone of my closest friends has, or had, breast cancer.  The prognosis is usually good, if caught early.  Praying she is a survivor.

As for the chocolate craving, my fix is a Klondike Slim-A-Bear bar.  No sugar added, fixes me up fast.

Hang in there.

You are doing the right thing by trying not to pani****il you get all the details....

And a HUGE congrats on recognizing WHAT you want, WHY you want it, and WHAT you CAN do instead.  HUGE HUGE HUGE steps down the path of successing for you woman!

Thanks all.  You gave some great suggestions like I knew you would.  I was not even thinking about chocoalte protein bars or protein drinks.  I was just not in that frame of mind and could only think of GREAT BIG CHOCOLATE CAKE.  So glad I didn't cause of course I'd have been miserable.

and chocolate pudding.. think I should go buy stock in it.

I'm better today.. just have to wait till Monday and see where we are at.  Its not like I can magically change anything.  I will hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Hugs to you all.

THANK YOU
