Anyone ever make any of the recipes from the hungrygirl cookbooks on hungrygirl.com?

Are they any good?

I just bought 2 of her cookbooks - one is 200 under 200 and looks really good - I've been doing a lot of tagging recipes but so far haven't made any - need to hit the grocery store this weekend for some supplies. I like the fact that a lot of her recipes are single serving or can be broken down into single servings. As I try them I'll let you all know how they are.

I also like the fact that she gives ALL the info you need - calories, carbs, sugar, protein, etc. - you can even get the Weigh****chers points on them if you want.

I bought two of the books and started to make a few things substituting lower fat and carb items.  I found that their nutritional info is mostly incorrect.  Just be mindful of what your making and do your own calculations.  The recipes aren't bad and gives you ideas on other dishes you could make from some of the ingredients.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Me too. I get her e-mails, would LOVE to have some of her cookbooks, but I haven't tried any of her recipes yet. I think most of them look really good. I will be watchin' to see what other input there is about this topic.

Like, Nan, I get her emails, I've got a couple cookbooks and I've made a few things and they are good but I do put a WLS spin on some of her things.   She isn't counting sugars and fats as strictly as we do so you have to look at the bottom line before making a recipe.   I generally go through recipe books and tag the stuff I can eat or I know I can easily convert w/maltitol, diabetisweet or Splenda granules.   South Beach books are great because basically everything in Phase I is fine for us.   I also have a Splenda cookbook that's ok.   There are plenty of cookbooks for broiling, smoking or grilling meats that concentrate on steak, chicken, fish which are great for summertime cooking that aren't so "girly".    Also sites: Kraft.com, allrecipes.com, cooks.com, cookinglight.com, bariatriceating.com.   Found a couple good recipes today on mensfitness.com as well as an article on a guy that had WLS and how he's gone from the 400's to 195 and his website.   I LOVE that Men's mag as it has lots of protein adverts, exercises and motivational articles.   Might be of interest to you....

I have friends that got the books and returned them because for the cost you aren't getting orginal recipes and you can find almost the same recipes for free online... and none of them have had WLS...

Thanks everyone for the input.  I actually bought 3 of the books and will tailor the recipes smartly.

Much appreciated.
