Yowza & Wow
I drove Caleb and 3 other scouts to their Wilderness Camp dropoff site this morning. We were on a logging road 10+ miles in the mountains. We stopped to unload & a scout said "Mrs. E, there is smoke coming from your front tire!" WHAT!!! I looked & smelled rubber burning. Apparently my sepentine belt is about gone-this would be the yow-za. We are in an un-towable location on a 4x4 road. A couple other drivers offered to follow me the over 1 hour ride home, just in case I broke down. But....they were hiking to see the wilderness campsite first. I ate a cheese stick, grabbed a water bottle and figured I would give it a try. Down the steep & slippery trail we went....about 3 miles. The camp was pristine along the West Branch of the Susquehanna where a stream enters into it. It is wilderness...nothing but trees, bugs and 34 scouts, leaders, et al. I used natures ladies room and we were off to hike up & out...OMG. It was tough going down but I shocked myself that I could keep up with the more fit, younger parents...this would be the WOW. I was able to drive the SUV to my mechanics and I got a ride home. I can't hardly believe the hike I did today. I could have never even attempted this feat last year. WOW!
PS: Pam P. - I am counting this as my no-excuses exercise for today:)
