The first of many summer WOWS!

So - I promise that I will NOT be on here everyday to bore you with all the wows - but last night was AMAZING here at Camp.

Remember - that I did see these people last year - they knew I had had the surgery, but was only three months out.  And I was NOT part of the working camp family, just a wonderful free-loader!  So I walk up to the staff that is here - many of whom have known me for years as Josh's mom, or Larry's wife, and a few of them came running to me to give me a hug - and they were just gushing - These are 19-22 year olds.  Very cool.....Ok - that I expected...being a camp person, having not seen people for 10 months, running and hugging is very normal.  However, I got MANY, "OMG's, I did not even recongnize you."  "Wow Steffi" and the like.  again, very cool.

The first REALLY big wow was how I felt walking up the BIG HILL to go to services.  The "Chapel on the hill" looks over much of the Pocono mountains and is beautiful.  I walked up the hill without any pain in my legs, my back - but most importantly, no pain in my heart!  It wasn't even beating fast, there was no perspiring......I was AMAZED!!!!!!!!!!  The next one when I was standing outside of the dining hall talking with another "grown-up" (Someone my age :)) and the director came over to me and started laughing, he said as he was going around the group of people there - practicing names in his head - he got to me and had no idea who I was (I had just seen him about an hour earlier)  He said it took him a few moments to remember who I was and why I was in this group.  He found this VERY entertaining.  The last WOW of the night was when I had to walk back up the hill again, we were watching a movie, and I sat down on the ground, (BTW - while I had no problem doing it - I am sooooo over sitting in the damp grass....just sayin!)  A young person wanted to sit in front of me - my legs were out in front of me - so I just pulled them in and crossed them in front of me...........this was NOT a chore!!!!!!!  I haven't sat with my legs crossed, "indian style" probably since I was a kid.  I always had my legs either bent to the side of me - straight out, open a litte, whatever, NEVER crossed......I couldn't beleive I was sitting on the grass, with my legs crossed without even thinking about it.

I am so looking forward to trying some of the things that camp has to offer this summer, I might even try climbing the crazy climbing tower they have here - I will find a way to post pictures of it.  While I do NOT have any upper body strength, YET, they harness you in and I am NOT worried about the harness NOT fitting!  There are so many things to look forward to as this summer begins.  I thank you all for letting me brag a little!

Congratulations on the WOW moments Steffi.  you deserve them.  Enjoy your time at camp.  Isn't it great not to sweat like a pig just walking a few feet.  I still don't like the heat but it is much more tolerable this summer than in a long time.
