When did weight loss level out?

Just curious (as I am still two months away from surgery) how long did it take to get to a weight loss that was pretty much stable enough to buy a new wardrobe?  Shopping is a major weakness but I dont want to be buying a new wardrobe every other month!

Bad news: you will be buying a new wardrobe every other month
Good news: There are clothing exchanges and you can't go wrong with thrift shops!

Attend support groups, as some people bring the clothing they are shedding as they continue to lose.  Stablizing is different for everyone, depending on how much you have to lose and the time it takes to get there. . ., generally, within my peers, it seems most people stablize as they get to their 2nd surgiversary, but  as Norm suggested, thrift stores are a great place to pick up things as your weight drops, save your money for the fun shopping when you do stablize. . .  shopping becomes a whole new experience post-WLS.

Best wishes on your journey.

I stabilized at about a year and a half out - I stayed in bigger sizes until it was ridiculous because I didn't want to buy a lot of stuff either, but thankfully I had a good friend who was doing Jenny Craig at the same time and losing quickly so she gave me tons of clothing, and so did another friend who cleaned out her mom's closet - all that got me thru at least 3 size changes.

TJ Maxx and Marshall's also became my new best friends - check out their clearance racks - once you're in smaller sizes you will be amazed at how cheaply you can get clothing! It's all part of the process so if you do know people who are downsizing themselves maybe you can get clothes from them.

Best of luck with your surgery - and trust me, there are worst things than buying SMALLER size clothes!!

I have learned the following:

Weight doesn't stabilize in the beginning

Don't buy anything new unless you have to

When you do have to, shop clearance racks at Thrift Stores, Jomar, Forman Mills, etc or pick up stuff at support meetings

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.
