It is really crazy what we put ourselves thru. I really dislike shopping for this reason. That along with being overwhelmed with the selection keeps me out of the stores.

It's so wierd Lisa - I have measured many of my successes along the way in terms of clothing. I'm not a clothes horse - far from it. But I recognize how my clothing choices reflected how I felt about my body and the extreme limitations put on my by weight.

Weight closed down so many options...life options. Clothing options. Activity options. Maybe it just comes out in clothing every so often when I go shopping. Or...the mere fact that absolutely NOTHING that I wore a year ago fits my body now...except maybe some socks.

Wow - I've had that SAME conversation with myself so many times!  I still fight the "that color is slenderizing" (who made up that awful word???) dialogue every time I look at clothing... combined with "oh - prints will make you look like a couch" etc.  And don't even get me started on the arms.

You are NOT alone.  Boy are you not alone.

And I can't wait to see pics of you in the dress, which I'm sure you will be ROCKING!!!

I'm working on getting up the courage to wear a halter dress on Friday to my daughter's graduation, which is outside, at 2:30, in the blazing sun.  My self-consciousness about my upper arms is really awful, but I'm fighting myself to get over it already.  Head games are so not fun.

One tricks is to try and find someone (celebrity or otherwise) who is about your height and dress size.  Look at what they wear and HOW they wear it - and how great they look in it.  Try to realize that that's what you "really" look like (without the overlay of history that you see when you look in the mirror).  It can help, if you consistently do it over time.

Hugs and post the pics!!!

I'm without a doubt certain you would ROCK a halter dress!
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

LOL Karen - "prints will make you look like a couch"!

Slenderize? How about this one. As a kid, my mom used to say that if I wore a "swingy" dress I would look like a "Slenderella." I hated swingy dresses.
