Waving Hellloooo and introducing myself
Good evening. I'm new here. I used to live in PA but then I moved to MT and after that I ended up back in NY where I was before PA.
Today is the 45th day since my surgery. WOOHOO! And I'm wondering where I go from here. A friend in PA told me you are a very active bunch and to say hello.
I think I'm doing pretty good. I'm not hungry yet. I've had some cravings and gotten tired of a bunch of things. Like pureed chicken, chopped chicken, yogurt, and anything NOT a veggie. I want salad so much right now that I think I'd kill for one. Okay, I wouldn't kill anything more than a ripe juicy tomato and a head of lettuce. And raw carrots.... yeah, I could kill some raw carrots.
I've having an EGD next Wednesday because they say I'm not eating enough, but if I eat or drink too much it hurts. I sip, sip, sip, but if I sip too often too close together it hurts too.
Tap ;~D
The puree stage was probably the hardest for me...soft foods felt like I had hit the big time! Some of the folks here are really creative cooks...and for those of us who are not so creative, they can even come up with some great ideas for using sugar free syrups!
Good luck with the testing and be sure to check in on our daily roll call!
Sooooo...you're in NY now? LOL That's a lot of moving around!
Congrats on your surgery! And yep - we are a very active group and supportive. We'll give you advice and answers to your questions, be empathetic...and a kick in the a$$ if you need one. Only because we want everyone to continue down the "successing" road! (Successing, not succeed - because succeed implies an end, and this journey never ends!)
Let us know if you need anything...and just keep sip sip sipping. It'll get easier as time goes by most of the time. Hope you EGD works out well!
OMG pureed was the WORST stage for me as well - just looking at pureed food turned me off - not that I had much of an appetite anyway, but I did force some into myself just so I could get to the next stage without hurting my new pouch.
Take your time on the raw veggies, tho - it took me a very long time to tolerate salads and I still have a hard time with fresh raw carrots, celery and stuff like that. Those things can be hard to chew down to a consistency that will pass thru your pouch, and the LAST thing you want is getting something like that stuck and getting the foamies - - LOL!!!
Glad you're here - visit often - someone's always lurking around this board.
