Wows and Questions
Hey all just had to share some stuff. The last couple of weeks has been crazy busy. I have just gotten a job. It is working for a staffing agency as an LPN. I haven't worked in 13 years so I am nervous and excited and scared you know running the whole range of emotions. So that is Wow number one. Then I went to buy scrubs the other night and ended up having to buy a size small pants. Holy Cow Wow number two. I have been running non stop with the job stuff, taking care of the house, shopping, volunteering at a sportsmans club we had shoots the last two weekends in a row, and I still feel good. I am not totally exhausted. AMAZING! Wow number three. So I am feeling so good I am loving it. Now for the question, for all of you who work what kinds of things do you take in your lunches? I can always take leftovers to warm up, I have some protien bars, cheese, found some mini whole grain pitas I thought maybe some chicken salad in those would be good, yogurt. I think I am on the right track. I just wondered if anyone had any other ideas.
Belinda,
Congratulations on your new job! and the WOW's . Sounds exciting! I usually always brown bag/pack my lunch. My staples (I have a refrigerator at work) are string cheese, yogurt (I like Greek though I also have Lite N' Fit) some sort of portable fruit, like grapes, banana or apples. I love apple slices with 2 tablespoon of simply jiff peanut butter. In the summertime I also slice up some watermelon and have that on my lunch or snack. I also pack either egg salads, lunch roll ups such as turkey or chicken breasts. I also have supreme protein bars in case my sugar drops and/or I find myself reaching for candy. Hope this helps! Good Luck with your new Job I am sure you'll do great!

Awesome Wows - Size Small must have been such an amazing feeling.
I'm with Shilpa on the ideas for packing luc****ep a jar of simply jif in my drawer so I don't have to pack it in little servings. We also overcook on the weekend so that I have leftovers to bring to work. I also sometimes make tuna salad and have it with a 1/2 serving of crackers or as a sandwich on protein bread. I also bring cottage cheese or ricotta cheese (with a little vanilla SF syrup in it) with fruit -

Congratulations on the wow's!! That's awesome - and congrats on the new job - you're going to do great.
People I work with laugh at me because they say if we got stuck at the office we could all eat for a week with what I keep around! I confiscated a drawer in the fridge when we got it and I keep string cheese, sf jello pudding cups; the small lo-fat cottage cheese cups (4 oz); light lunchmeat and cheese for roll-ups or wraps - in my drawer I keep Atkins protein bars; peanut butter; popcorn; those 2.6 oz packets of tuna; usually a soup of some kind; wraps and then I bring a banana or apple every day. Oh, and sf mints on my desk for when I THINK I want something but am really just BORED.
As you can see I'm all about convenience in packaging - I know it costs a little more but it's worth it to me to have stuff pre-measured so I don't have to deal with it. Once in a while I'll buy a container of greek yogurt because that's the only kind I can tolerate and mix it with fresh fruit or sf jelly.
Good luck on the new job!!

Congrats!! Those are AWESOME wow moments! Whoooo hoooo for the job!!!!!! I know the feelings you are talking about - you'll settle in soon enough I'm sure!
I tend to stick to the same sort of things for meals at work..basically because I don't know when or how long I'll have to eat...
Greek yogurt with berries and splenda
Ricotta cheese w/ splenda and cinnamon
Apple or banana with PB
Sometimes a salad with grilled chicken or rolled up lunch meats and cheese
String cheese
Raw carrots
And before I had to give it up due to my thyroid issues, I would bring steamed and salted edamame in their pod..
Once in awhile I'll bring left overs from dinner to heat up...but most of the time I don't have a chance to heat it up and pay attention enough to eat solid dense meats, hence why I stick with the other type of stuff
