ok - am i nuts???
So my beloved nephew and I went to the gym today and totally rocked a workout - running, followed by a full weight circuit.
Somehow along the way I seem to have agreed to do the Disney half-marathon with him (not THIS october, but the following one - this one was just TOO close and would be totally nuts). Um. ok. That's 13 miles. I don't expect to win the thing, just want to finish (and hopefully not last). But it's kinda scary to think about a training plan for that, too!
Am I nuts? Yikes! Anyone else want to do it? (could be a ton of fun to get a group of us together to do it and all bunk together too...)

well if you're nuts you are not alone and have plenty of company I am thinking :wow look at that Karen and how far she has come" so nuts you are not especially since you have gotten on a horse and am going to do this half-marathon. You so rock! You have great dreams and are making them come true. People without dreams have nothing you have so much. We all do on here!
Here are the details for THIS year's, which is the first time they're doing it. i have no details yet for next year's, but will post as soon as I find out. A couple of intriguing things:
1. it's a NIGHT run (starts at 10 pm, followed by the after-party at the Disney Food and Wine festival in Epcot) - perfect in Florida because the humidity will have dropped and the temperature should be really nice
2. You can do it as a RELAY (first runner: 5.1 miles, second runner: 8 miles). At the transfer point, they provide transport for the first runner to the finish line.

if you've never been to the food and wine festival at Epcot, let me tell you it's a real joy! They add a ton of countries that aren't normally there, each of whom has a little "booth" setup. You get a little portion of a representative food from that country and can pair it with a little portion of a wine or beer from the country, generally running from $2 - $5 for the food and bev combo... it's all open-air, walking-around eating, so you can try a tidbit from indonesia followed by a tidbit from france followed by a little something from australia, for example. Great atmosphere, very festive, and a ton of fun. They also have cooking classes with famous chefs, wine tastings/education events, cooking contests, and more. It's honestly one of my favorite times to go to Disney.
